Pink + Blue Clouds and Caviar

Why hello there!! Double posting today, a first for me, not all that exciting to be honest. I've had the "cloud" manicure on my to-do list for too long and it's adorable so I don't know why I've been waiting for so long. Another thing I should've tried earlier, caviar nails (or nail in my case), I've had the beads since Christmas so there's been no reason not to go for it except procrastination.

The clouds are so easy and cute, I just used the brush of the polish to do some lumpy shapes in a scallop shape/pattern and sorted, no issues with proportioning either!! The caviar looks quite cool too, these are the cheap ones from MUA (the one called Pisces containing blue, pink and silver beads, there's quite a large range of different beads from MUA), £3 instead of whatever high price Ciate is charging. It's good for those who want to try it out and not pay high prices, also I can't imagine myself using the beads a lot.

It wasn't particularly difficult to use the beads, just pour them over the wet polish. I had a container to stop the beads from going everywhere and so I could get excess back into the tube. The beads still went everywhere and some got stuck in the container I was using (I have to say I didn't use the best container), but MUA's tube for the beads has a lid that can also be used as a funnel which was somewhat helpful. I shook my hand for a bit to get rid of most of the excess from the nail (much more fell after, all before the photos). I wasn't fond of the packed look. After a little bit I pressed the beads gently to help them stick better I guess.
As you can imagine the beads don't last very long, especially with me as I decided to have a sorting out stuff day and in less than half a day quite a few of the beads came off and then I picked the remaining ones off too. I bet some people could make them last a day (max. 2 days), they are just not convenient for daily life. I wanted to go out and be like "Oh la la I have a fancy nail", but I didn't go out.

Here I have an alternate look, post beads, they left a bit of colour and I thought it looked cool, but after picking some nail was exposed so I freehanded some hearts with Lovely Me:Ex - White and Lovely Me:Ex - Black.
Base: Nails Inc - Sweets Way
I have to say removal this time wasn't so bad, the glitter still went everywhere but it wasn't all that difficult to get it off in the first place.
Blue: Essie - Bikini So Teeny
Pink: Orly - Basket Case
Turquoise: Essie - Turquoise and Caicos

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :) (Something crazy is coming tomorrow, you'll see, seriously it's crazy).

The Liebster Award!

Oh hello there guys!! I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Dli from I'Art Nails which thanks too much that's so awesome!! This tag is for blogs with less than 200 followers to get some more exposure, which is always great. So the way this tag works is:
1. You answer 11 questions set by the blogger who tagged you
2. Nominate 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers
3. Provide 11 questions for the bloggers you tagged
4. Link back the blogger who tagged you and notify your nominees you tagged them!!

And I'll guess I'll get right in and start answering!!
1. If you had 3 wishes what would they be?
More wishes? Haha no that's probably the standard answer to this question. That my family and friends will always be happy, that I'll be able to achieve anything I want and that I'd never be able to worry or care about stupid things (I guess that's technically 2 in 1).

2. What beauty item(s) do you carry around in your bag?
I have to say I'm not very into beauty but I do carry round Benefit They're Real mascara (I splurged once), Benetint (the free sample from a magazine) and various lip products like the Clarins Natural Lip Perfecter in Rose (another free sample), oh but I'd really like the Bourjois Crayon in Red Sunrise, cause I think red lips are really pretty. Haha I say I'm not into beauty and I write all these products :P

3. What song would be the soundtrack to your life?
Just one?? The Camel Song by Clara C cause I just love everything about that song. And it's upbeat so that's probably accurate for my life.

4. If you could be any character from a book or film, who would you be?
Oo this is a hard one, any female protagonist who falls in love with a perfect guy? Or a monster from Monsters University? The second one was probably weird, but the Scare Games look amazing.

5. What is your favourite perfume/fragrance?
Harajuku Lovers Summer Cuties Love, that scent is so fun and fruity, I love it. Fruity scents are my favourites. Other favourites are Hollister So Cal and Benefit Laugh With Me Lee Lee but I don't own either cause they're too expensive but they smell AMAZING.

6. What has been your biggest beauty/fashion faux pas?
I'm not really one to speak cause I probably have accidentally been a faux pas (yes actually been the faux pas), but I'm not a fan of raccoon eyes, foundation not matching skin colour and caked on makeup. Thankfully I haven't done any of mentioned things, fashion wise I can't think of many but as long as it's not outlandish I think it's pretty much fine.

7. Natural or acrylic nails?
Always natural!! I've never used acrylic nails and I don't think I'll be using them in the near future.

8. If you could have a lifetime supply of makeup, what brand would you want it to be?
This would be wasted on me but I could give some to people ^_^ I really like The Balm as their products seem cute and good quality (not that I own any). Or Tarte!!

9. If you could have a date with any celebrity, who would it be?
Well I think celebrities aren't always who they portray themselves to be. But Josh Hutcherson. It has been Josh Hutcherson ever since Bridge to Terabithia came out 6 years ago. Just Josh Hutcherson, I promise I'm not a crazy fangirl (I fangirl over other things). I could list off a bunch more actors cause I admire them so much but I won't, there's only meant to be one answer right? ;)

10. If you could invite 5 people to a dinner party (dead or alive), who would it be?
Norah Jones, Elizabeth Ziman (from Elizabeth and the Catapult), Alison Krauss, Ben Rector and Lady Antebellum (even though that's 3 people, urgh I fail at answering questions, they seem like lovely people). Basically some of my favourite artists, I think they'd all have great stories.

11. Why did you start blogging?
I wanted somewhere to document the 31 day challenge, and I ended up continuing cause I loved it.

Here are my 11 questions:
1. Which polish started the nail craze for you?
2. Top 3 colours of polish?
3. Favourite genre of book?
4. Website most addicted to?
5. Favourite nail art pattern (e.g. animal print, geometric etc.)
6. Favourite nail polish brand?
7. Favourite make up brand?
8. Current music you're loving?
9. Current favourite app?
10. Brand of nail polish you wish you had access to?
11. Film you really want to watch?

Ok time for me to tag people, AHHHHH I don't have names coming into my head who haven't done this or have less than 200 followers, I once again feel terrible (sorry people I could tag :/). But I have some bloggers I will tag:
Pokenailart (again :))
The Nail Snail

Thank you very much for reading, I once again prove that I am awesome at rambling and giving unnecessary details ;)

The iPhone (Nail) Series: Happy Street

Oh hello there lovely people!! Welcome to the 2nd instalment of The iPhone (Nail) Series, I have some nail art based on my current favourite iPhone game, Happy Street. I stumbled upon this game last year and it's just the best. Mostly the game is ADORABLE!! The characters are seriously the cutest (I'm being very superlative, that's not an adjective :/) and everyone is always happy.

These are the main characters of Happy Street. Thumb to left to right, Billy, Zoe, Pepin, Nyok and Dahlia. I play Happy Street for quests, I have to complete all the quests, when there are no quests I am sad (not really haha). Recently the game brought in a train feature which is virtually constant quests for various items, so currently I'm happy with Happy Street. Except when I get all the items it's gonna be a problem, but that won't happen any time soon :) Happy Street is a free to play game where you start with a small street and the more time and effort you put into your street, the more it grows.
Another thing I really like about the game is the "story", it's in bunny ears cause it's not your typical "storyline", but the characters interact with each other and has made me crazy over the Billy/Zoe coupling (THEY NEED TO BE TOGETHER). This is what the game does to you, makes you want a fox and a cat together. I'm sure the game is aimed at kids but the characters sometimes talk about inflation and sometimes there are the weirdest innuendoes that the creators must've had an older audience in mind too. I really could say so many good things about this game, and there's no reason not to give it a try (well there's the possibility of getting addicted), it's free!!

I really like all the characters (Zoe being my favourite by a small margin), except Dahlia (the purple bunny), I should like her but I just don't, her character isn't substantial to me. So Nyok and Dahlia are getting married, Pepin is your money obsessed wolf and the Billy and Zoe thing is slightly heart-breaking so I won't be mentioning it (also it's a bit of a spoiler), BUT THEY HAVE TO END UP TOGETHER (this game does this to me).
I'm the happiest with how I painted Billy, Zoe the 2nd happiest, the characters aren't painted perfectly, but otherwise I'm quite satisfied as they are cuties.

I started with a gradient of Ciate - Cookies and Cream, Per Una - Pink (no name) and H&M - Check Me Out, it started well as I was trying a different gradient technique, but as usual ended in fail. I knew it was getting covered up anyway. I sealed the gradient with OPI - Pirouette My Whistle, not the greatest move as the glitter dulled the colours and didn't look as nice, but early stages it's ok.
I started the characters with painting a white base with Lovely Me:Ex - White and all black details were done with Lovely Me:Ex - Black.
For Billy (the fox):
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire, Light Brown: Ciate - Cookies and Cream. I was trying to do shading and it failed. Mint Green: Max Factor - Cool Jade, Light Blue: The Face Shop - BL601 and Blue: Essie - Bikini So Teeny.
For Zoe (the cat):
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream, Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips, Light Pink: Per Una - Pink (no name), Mustard: Topshop - Naked and Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia.
For Pepin (the wolf):
Blue: Barry M - Indigo, Shimmery Blue: OPI - Sea You In Hollywood, Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror. The black didn't show up on the dark blue and it made me sadz, I thought the silver would be a suitable replacement. It wasn't Pepin looked crazy evil so the happy medium was the black over the silver. Red: Nails Inc - Tate.
For Nyok (the dog):
Copper: Nail Polish - Copper (no name), Brown: Paris Collection - Mauve Melody, Light Brown: Ciate - Cookies and Cream and Shimmery Blue: OPI - Sea You In Hollywood
For Dahlia:
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina, Pink: Per Una - Pink (no name), Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine, Blue: Essie - Bikini So Teeny, Darker Blue: Color Club - Sky High and Green: Illamasqua - Nomad.
Yep that's a lot of colours :/ but I didn't have the exact colours for a few things, not very important though. I like the colour palette the creators of Happy Street used, they all compliment each other.

Ok thanks if you read this extremely long and rambly (what I do best) post, I like this game. I hope you have a great day!! :)

Combo: Ice Queen and Punk Princess

Hi there!!! My freedom was taken away, as school began again. Sad times for all the people going to school, including me. We all know school is not a bundle of fun times. I have a combo post today and I haven't done one of these in ages, I think I've been doing so many Gimme Glitters that combos have kind of been neglected. I was meant to do some nail art on top but I loved the glitter combos that I went without. Also I know the title is really lame but I love it, I feel really clever that I connected queen and princess together even though that's not very clever :/ Fun fact: I have exactly 15 Gimme Glitter and Combo posts each (super interesting I know).

My favourite things about this manicure are the sheer white hexes over the dark blue and the black glitter over the pink. These are the "ice queen" and "punk princess" elements.

The pink is Color Club - Wing Fling an extremely pretty glass flecked pink (2 coats) and the blue is Kiko - 266 (2 coats), I borrowed this from a friend as my go to dark blue (Barry M - Indigo) has been low for a while. I own Kiko - 265 which I thought was a cool coincidence and my friend did not haha, I get excited over little things.

On the blue nails I used 2 coats of OPI - Last Friday Night, which I just love the aqua micro-shimmer within that pops over dark blue. And 1 coat of OPI - Pirouette My Whistle, and I'm in love with those sheer white hexes which I always have to mention cause they're gorgeous.
On the pink nails I used Barry M - Ruby, I actually like how the pink glitter blends in with the base cause it looks like just black glitter on the nails. I want to use Ruby over a lighter pink cause I know it'll look awesome cause Ruby is an awesome polish. I used 2 coats and then some cause I wanted a lot of glitter, I think I went a bit overboard (it happens a lot) cause the pink base isn't coming through that well but I still like it. The formula is also awesome, it spreads on so easily and there's no migrating to the tips issues. Ruby is pretty different to OPI - Minnie Style but I much prefer it, better formula and looks better, the black glitter is super edgy haha.

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked the look and have a great day!! :)

Pastel Galaxy Nail Art

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Oh hey there you can follow my blog on bloglovin' again!! I had an issue but my blog is followable again on that platform!! Anyway the moment I saw this look on The Nailasaurus I knew I needed this on my nails. The idea is simply genius!! I used her tutorial for the pastel galaxies. I've always liked galaxy nails ever since I tried them, they're easy to do and look awesome. Ok on this blog my galaxies don't look overly awesome, I liked my first attempt (but standards were lower then) and my second attempt was a mess haha. These pastel galaxy nails are definitely my favourite galaxy nails I've done.

Cute and simple!! I love the colours and galaxies just look great. It was really very easy, I was trying to follow some sort of pattern but then in just ended with random sponging everywhere. My nails look a bit chunky due to glitter, topcoat (without this coat of topcoat it would've smudged) then matte topcoat, I love it matte though. Before topcoat the stars didn't look very nice but topcoat (the Color Club one) is a magic thing. In reality the manicure is not that thick.

In Sammy's tutorial she wrote "add a touch of shimmer here and there", for me it might as well be add a touch of shimmer everywhere, and then some. And then some more. Then you might as well pile it on. I abuse glitter. What's new?

Mint (base): China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint
Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
Light Blue: Revlon - Blue Lagoon (can't really see it)
Light Beige: Ciate - Cookies and Cream (also can't really see it)
Purple: Essie - Lilacism
Dark Blue: OPI - Sea You In Hollywood
At first Sea You In Hollywood looked really stark compared to the other pastel colour, but after sponging over it with the pastel colours the dark blue toned down and gave depth.
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Ok now to a lot of glitter, I'm bad at eliminating when it comes to glitter. I dabbed a little of Nails Inc - Sweets Way, Barry M - Pink Iridescent, Nails Inc - Glamour Glitter, OPI - Teenage Dream and a bit more Nails Inc - Abbey Road. For the "stars" it was OPI - Pirouette My Whistle (they had the sheer white hexes), Lovely Me:Ex - White and the perfect star polish for galaxies Barry M - Hologram Hexograms. I really like glitter. I only used 7.

Pastel galaxies are beyond cute (and out of this world but that's been done before), clearly neon galaxies need to happen. I'll try to be the pioneer of that :D Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!! :)

Gimme Glitter: Etude House - WH901

Oh hey there guys!! Today I have a glitter polish, this shouldn't really be that surprising as I'm pretty much addicted to glitter. I have a lot of thoughts on this polish when I first tried it in a nail art look and I have different thoughts now cause I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, this polish is gorgeous.

I feel so pro with this hand pose
My first Etude House polish is a pretty pastel polish, there's pastel pink, green, yellow and purple chunky hearts, diamonds and small and medium hexes. Some small and medium white hexes with a sprinkling of holographic glitter. I'm still in love with the mix of glitter it's gorgeous.
I just love the way it looks, and I love big glitter (and all glitter)!! Such cute and happy vibes were given off by this manicure. One thing that wasn't cute was the name, come on Etude House I want cute names.
I put this over various pinks which can be seen in my pink comparison post. With the glitter over the middle pinks they looked like the same polish. Nails Inc - Notting Hill over white is on my thumb.

I thought putting pastel over a pastel base was a good idea but last time the green blended in with the base so I thought about how a bright pink would look as the base and I love it, the glitter pops out.
Last time I had a lot of complaints about the formula, mostly too much base not enough glitter but I feel differently this time. The polish is still the same but I think my long nails this time was a VERY important factor, the glitter spread better.
I also used a different application technique, I swirled the brush to pick up a lot of glitter, I didn't get rid of a lot of glitter on the rim of the polish and I put it all on the nail, there was excess and I would put it on the other nails. The coverage looked pretty in the end, also if there was a lot of glitter piled on top of each other I would quickly get a toothpick and move it carefully.

So I used 2 glitter packed coats (it wasn't actually too thick this time) with some occasional placing. Obviously there are bubbles, I just can't have a glitter manicure without bubbles :( But there are NO WHERE near as bad as last time. None of the glitter sticking out (topcoat was also helpful in regards to that).
Removal was still no walk in the park, but with a glitter polish like this you can't expect it to be easy, it's not the worse polish I've ever removed but it wasn't easy. Also there were red random splodge (technical term) staining on my nails after (I was not best pleased) but I'm not sure I blame this glitter cause sometimes combinations of polishes earn staining, so I think it may be the combination of the hot pink and glitter. I will still be using this polish though, the staining will go away.
I'm glad I got this glitter working for me cause I love it, I need to find ways to incorporate it into nail art cause even with the not perfect formula this polish is one of favourites cause of how cute the mix of glitter is.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading my glitter ramblings (I can really ramble about glitter), thanks if you did and have a great day!! :)

Comparison: Hot Pinks

Hello there!! I was curious about some hot pinks I had as they looked similar and obviously the only way to find out is through nail comparisons. I just really like hot pinks and thinking "Oh I don't have a polish like this", buy it, to find I do have polishes like this. And taking a leaf out of The Polishaholic's book I'm doing a comparison (though no where near as amazing as her comparison posts).

What can I say, I like hot pinks. Clearly from the photo The Face Shop - PK105, Orly - Basket Case and No.7 - Me!Me!Me! are nearly exactly the same. Not dupes though, Me!Me!Me! is slightly darker and PK105 is slightly lighter and brighter, slightly being the key word.
Obviously I don't need all 3 but things rack up before you realise it, but after this comparison I realised I prefer Me!Me!Me! and PK105 to Basket Case, those differences make a difference. I included Nails Inc - Notting Hill Gate as the 4th polish cause I thought it may be kind of similar, kind of being the key word. It's over white and it's more orange-toned and brighter than the others, out of all of them Notting Hill Gate is my favourite.

I used 2 coats of each polish, and 2 coats of Notting Hill Gate is over Barry M - Matt White. All formulas were great, normally Basket Case requires 3 coats but thick coats conquered that. Me!Me!Me! has an awesome formula that glides and the brush shape is perfect for painting. It really needs to be used more. Pk105 normally also requires 3 coats but I guess I used thick coats there too.
I got Me!Me!Me! first with my friend's mum's Boots voucher, before this blog started, then PK105 last July (I first used it for penguin nail art), then Basket Case then Notting Hill Gate as a present last Christmas. These things build up without you realising!! :/ Even in my post about Basket Case I said I had 2 similar polishes, I never realised how similar. That being said I do like all these pinks.

I have to say this post was really fun, also it's interesting seeing how close some polishes are. I want to compare all my polish now!! Another one of these posts should appear in the future. Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!! :)

Koi Nail Art

Hello there!! I hope you're doing well today, I have some koi nail art today inspired by Mr. Candiipants again, she created a great tutorial for this that I decided to use cause I thought the design would be difficult. But it turns out it's super easy and looks great!! I love watching Candice's tutorials cause that girl is hilarious, I find makeup tutorials extremely boring, but I watched all 20 minutes of Candice's tutorials cause she is just so funny. If you're uncertain about the koi nails I urge you to go for it, it's so easy (and her tutorials are a fun way to waste time)!!! :)

I always enjoy animal nail art and I'm definitely enjoying the koi, it looks complicated and intricate but once you know how to do it everything automatically simplifies. Well I think it looks impressive ;) The koi are cute too.

I changed the design a bit, I was meant to add a couple a silver dots, but I went overboard (why is this not surprising? :/), and after I decided just the silver was boring so I got a bunch of hexes and placed them one by one. And filled some with blue polish, I like the way it looks cause I like a bit of interest but I don't get how these let's place glitter one by one ideas come into my head. Apparently I like tedium. Also I did the dots in groups of 3, so the total dots are a multiple of 3!! This is incredibly exciting I know.
I got some glitter onto the rim of the polish and I'd poke it out with a toothpick and place it. To be honest it was quite relaxing, you see those designs that are all placed glitter and they are incredibly impressive. Haha I want to try that now, I'll need to have a lot of time on my hands.

Base: Kiko - 266 (borrowed from a friend), Models Own - Indian Ocean and Orly - Go Deeper
I wanted the combination of a darkish blue and Indian Ocean like in my Boo nail art which looked cool. Maybe the awesome is reserved for the combination of Barry M - Indigo and Indian Ocean cause Indian Ocean looked extremely plummy (and I HATE plum). To fix this I added 2 coats of Go Deeper (the perfect base for this) and order was restored, I do like how purple peaks out sometimes. Go Deeper also has holographic glitter which makes everything better.
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Orange: Bourjois - Tangerine Fatal, Essie - Tart Deco and OPI - Jinx
I LOVE the shimmer that Jinx adds, <3 Jinx
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Placed glitter: Barry M - Hologram Hexograms (cause you can't have too much holographic glitter) and the white hexes from OPI - Minnie Style
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror
Blue of dots: Revlon - Dreamer
Sealed with the amazing Color Club topcoat that I love very much, that white pen smudges like nobody's busy but that topcoat did not smudge anything and I'm so glad the topcoat of my dreams has come into my life haha. I needed 2 coats of topcoat to smooth the placed glitter.

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!! :)

Blog Your Heart Out Award!

Hey there guys!! I was recently nominated by The Nail Snail (go check her out!!) for the Blog Your Heart Out award, really I'm honoured, so thanks very much to The Nail Snail!! This award is for bloggers under 100 followers that are not as well known but have legit blogs. I'm pretty sure virtually everyone has done this tag by now but basically you answer 5 questions then tag 5 bloggers with less an 100 followers. I'm genuinely excited to do this, so here goes!! :)

1. What/Who encouraged you to start blogging?
Around April 2012 I found out about the 31 day challenge, which lead me to Chalkboard Nails and her blog, I loved her blog (and still do) and thought it looked fun. I'd been doing nail art for almost a year when I'd started my blog and I just wanted to document the 31 day challenge I was doing. After I ended up continuing cause I enjoyed blogging.

2. How did you choose what topic(s) to blog about?
From the beginning I knew this was a nail blog cause I always loved painting my nails, I guess I thought for about a millisecond to blog about my life but frankly that would be kind of boring. Sometimes I include some things about my life amidst the nail stuff.

3. What is something most people don't know about you?
I make it pretty clear that I love Nintendo with some of my nail art but people in my real life wouldn't know that. I'm obsessed with music (like everyone), my favourites being Elizabeth & The Catapult, Norah Jones, Alison Krauss, Ben Rector, Luke Wesley, Chris Merritt, Clara C etc. and I love discovering new artists. I also have an obsession with the Oscars (and acting/film/actors in general) and Wikipedia (of all things -_-).

4. What three words describe your style?
Nail art style? Cute, quirky and colourful? Cute obviously being the main one cause I'm in love with all things cute.

5. What do you like to do when you aren't blogging?
I'm addicted to the internet :/ Reading other blogs, Youtube, sometimes Facebook, Wikipedia, the list is endless. I also like reading (romantic and dystopian are my current genres of choice), musical activites (singing, piano, guitar etc.), listening to music, diary writing (I have documented every school day since November 2011 so I can look back and laugh) and list making haha, just your standard teenage stuff. I'd love to do more gaming but I have no time for that nowadays :(

Who I nominate
Ok I suck, I'm sure most people have already done this tag and have more than 100 followers. I seriously can't think of any others and I feel terrible. But I'll tag Batmomo from Pokenailart cause she does really cute Pokemon nail and she's so lovely (even though she probably has more than 100 followers) :)

Ok that was fun and you know a bit more about me (not really that interesting), thanks very much for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day!!! :)

Seashell and Starfish Nail Art

Hello there!! How you doing? Haha hopefully well, I have a summer design today as the summer is still here (though September and school is fast approaching *ultimate sad face*). I used a cutepolish tutorial, well I just used the picture cause it's super cute and super cute is my favourite adjective. I changed it up quite a lot and the result is...different (in a kind of good way). Her's are WAY cuter, just saying.

I like it but my seashells are so messed up. I couldn't find a way for them to look ok so I let them look weird and wrong. I like the starfish though especially the metallic pink dots, I'm glad that polish worked way better than I expected it to.

The difference being the colour scheme and I jelly sandwiched for the base. It gives a kind of sea feeling, but pink sandwiched in green worked better in my head than in real life.

Green: Barry M - Greenberry and Topshop - Green Room (jelly)
Both polishes are virtually the same colour (I'm almost 100% certain they are the same colour), I compared them on a sheet. I would never do a nail comparison with them as the difference would be so clear. Greenberry is a careful 1 coater, Green Room is minimum 5 coats and it's not even opaque (I was very disappointed the 1st time I tried it). Green Room will forever be my green jelly.
Glitter: OPI - Minnie Style
The white square is peaking out on my ring finger and I like that.
Dark Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia
Metallic Pink: Barry M - Boots Xmas LE 2012 B (really opaque :))
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Dark Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a nice day!! :)

The Blue Umbrella (Nail Art)

Oh hello there!! I saw Monsters University last month and I LOVED it, there were just so many happy vibes. Oh does that relate to this post, if you watched Monsters University (I hope everyone did), there was a PIXAR short film before it titled "The Blue Umbrella", which was absolutely adorable. What grabbed my attention before the anthropomorphic objects was the music, it was chill and cute (music can be cute). The music was just lovely and uplifting as was the short film. I loved those umbrellas so some nail art was in order. You can probably tell what happens in the film from the nail art even if you haven't watched it. Hopefully some Monsters University nail art will also be in order cause I seriously loved that film (I will be getting the DVD as soon as I can).

I have avoided umbrella manicures like the plague (haha ok maybe not that dramatic) but every time I see an umbrella mani I just don't like it and I don't think it looks nice. I found if you don't paint the umbrella at the cuticle the umbrellas can be cute like in The Blue Umbrella. Oh man I still love those umbrellas especially nail form, they're SO cute :3 I also wanted to do the tops of the umbrellas cause the details count (and I'm obsessive like that :P). I was browsing through old posts and realised the manicure is quite similar to my cupcakes in love design (though I prefer the umbrellas). In the short film I really liked the shape of the red umbrella, very unique.

And on the other nails I piled on the glitter, in other news one of my favourite glitter polishes Barry M - Superdrug Xmas LE 2012 B is bleeding. In my first post of the polish I stated that I liked how "the red glitter was not in your face red glitter", it wasn't apparent then but the red's been bleeding into the base. The salmon red is now much more salmon and I don't like it as much. It's still an awesome polish but the bleeding is a bummer, I wonder if it's been happening to anybody else with that polish (it was limited edition).

Blue: Color Club - Sky High
I was debating about which blue to use but I decided on Sky High cause of the gorgeous purple shift and it's special.
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Normally I'm a big supporter of a black outline but I like the lack of it in this design.
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Pink: Orly - Basket Case
Peach: w7 - Linen
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror
Brown: w7 - Brownie
Black: Topshop - Gypsy Night
Gypsy Night is a very unique polish, there's holographic glitter and after a second look I realised the red flakes shift to gold to green. Normally I would've spotted this but I got this polish last June and still didn't realise til now.  Gypsy Night clearly needs to be used more.
Glitter: Revlon - Belle and Barry M - Superdrug Xmas LE 2012 B
In the sun the glitter nails looked amazing, all that holographic sparkle and just the sparkle in general. By the way I love holographic glitter in case you didn't know ;)

If you haven't watch Monsters University NOW, The Blue Umbrella is right before it (I didn't expect it when I was watching and I guess I've ruined the surprise but technically the whole post has ruined the surprised haha). Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!!! :)

Gimme Glitter: The Face Shop - CMX321

Hey there guys!!! I have a glitter today and it's pretty great. I went into The Face Shop looking for Vanilla Sugar Yogurt 01 and I walked over to the nail polish area and from my first glance I saw this glitter and thought "GIMME!!" (they are Gimme Glitter posts for a reason haha) with grabby hands. I saw the matte glitter and I was down, from all the swatches of matte glitter I fell in love. Now I have some of my own, good times are ahead. Also I'm a big fan of The Face Shop, I got a couple polishes from there last year (which you may have seen in random posts on this blog) and I think I'm gonna make it a yearly thing to go :D

It's awesome, I really really like it. I want more matte glitter haha. Also over Max Factor - Cool Jade I get cherry blossom vibes which I love. Unfortunately I used my bad topcoat and I didn't wait long enough and I got bubbles :/ Thankfully they're not too obvious.

The coverage was great, it was really glitter dense (which I'm always a supporter of). CMX321 consists of medium pink, spring green and white hexes with smaller red and blue hexes and small white hexes and squares. Super interesting.

I used 2 coats and then some placing, not difficult to work with. The green hexes were the most sparse in the mix so it was fun getting some on each nail (yes I find these things fun). Oh another thing CMX321 is such a lame name, I would've been happy with anything other than some letters and numbers.

I like glitter. A lot. Probably too much. I enjoy it. Haha thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

The iPhone (Nail) Series: Doodle Jump

Oh hello there!!! This series has been in the works for a long time, I originally had the idea for this series after my 31 Day Challenge, that was last year in July. I guess sometimes I forgot, sometimes I wasn't in the mood. Therefore it took over a year for this series to premiere but we're here now and I think this will be a good one. I'm a big fan of gaming and games on the iPhone (etc.). iPhone games are a great way for everyone to be introduced to gaming without realising. I debated where to start for this series but why not start at the beginning with the 1st game I got from the App store, Doodle Jump. Which is obscenely popular, available on many platforms with (debatably) dubious clones.

For my mani I have to Doodler with a jetpack, some platforms, a spaceship, a black hole and an enemy about to be killed by whatever the Doodler shoots. I was going to paint some notebook paper but I decided everything would look too busy so I didn't. I like how quirky the design looks and I'm always up for cartoons. Yeah I think it's quite cool and I like it :)

I have to say I don't play Doodle Jump anymore and I haven't played for years but when I did play it was pretty fun and I was ok at it, I was no pro but I didn't suck. It's easy for everyone to play. The high score thing keeps you playing, also in an update you could buy ninja gear if you collected some means of currency. I would've kept playing for that. Currently Doodle Jump is 69p (I got it for 59p, all the apps went up in price a couple of years ago).

White: Barry M - Matt White
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Mustard: Topshop - Naked
Green (of clothes and spaceship): Barry M - Mint Green
Green (of platform): Illamasqua - Nomad
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine
Purple: Rimmel - Purple Pulse
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Brown (of pellet): The Face Shop - GL112
Gold (of spaceship ray): w7 - Golden Sands and Nails Inc - Glamour Glitter
I thought the glitter would be enough but it wasn't so I had to paint the gold over the glitter then paint more glitter, little thick but nothing the Color Club topcoat can't fix.

So that was the 1st instalment of The iPhone Nail Series, there's more to come of my favourite iPhone and other games. Hopefully these won't be too infrequent but I have to be in a certain mood. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!! :)

Minion Madness Manicure (+ Guest Nails)

Oh hi there!! Yeah the title doesn't really work but we roll anyway. I recently visited my cousin and she liked all my nail business and asked me to paint her some minions. I happily agreed. Everyone seems to be a bit minion mad and I watched Despicable Me 2 last week. Understandable as the minions are pretty cool. I love Agnes, she is too cute for her own good. I liked the movie, I think I preferred the 1st one. BUT when watching I realised there was a Rilakkuma poster and a Rilakkuma phone case (Margo's case). Observant or Obsessive, you decide :P
Oo on the note of Rilakkuma there have been developments and I'll hopefully get round to doing some appropriate nail art soon.

The complete minion mani, she seemed up for the accent (my favourite ;)). I gave her quite a few options for the other nails but she chose orange (Essie - Fear Or Desire) and of course I offered her glitter and she said yes. We're clearly related :P The glitter was OPI - Minnie Style, and was easier to apply this time compared to last, probably due to smaller nails and my application techniques. It was a pressing kind of thing.

This is the minion I preferred, minions are so versatile, so many facial features options. I think he looks cooler, the other one looks more derpy which normally I like but the tongue sticking out is also cute.

My cousin was also pro in posing, I gave her little guidance and she got it. I know the glasses are silver but I didn't have one with me.
Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Red (for tongue): Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream

I really enjoyed painting my cousin's nails, I was also able to talk like a crazy person about nail polish (what I love to do) and she politely listened. Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Green Nails: Max Factor - Cool Jade

Hello there!! Today I have some green nails for you (well no -_-) I've explained the story behind this polish in my Tweety Bird nail art post (the nail art is actually pretty nice, I like it). But basically I joked to my friend about getting me nail polish and then she actually got me some and I felt totes emosh. She made a great choice, from first glance it seems pretty dupable but this one is special, promise.

Really all I can say is that this is a jade green, on the greener side and with a bit of dustiness. It's a nice colour and it's slightly darker than the other jade greens I have (Nomad is still my favourite by the way).

I've never tried a Max Factor polish before but colour me impressed. Once I find nice colours I want to try some more. Maybe the infamous Fantasy Fire, though to be honest it doesn't really impress me and it's not actually that hard to find (hey that's a good thing for others).

Ok the reason I'm the most impressed with this polish is the formula. I'm not a fussy gal but the formula is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo flawless. 2 stupendously (yes I'm using this word) easy coats and 1 coat for short nails. It's just perfect, not too thick not too thin and glides with no streaks. The brush shape is also perfect, it's a small brush and bottle but it fit so perfectly to my nail shape that I didn't have to clean up at all. Just saying I made a bit of a blunder with my thumb and that's why there's a messed up stroke, my fault not the polish's the other nails the polish looks lovely.

Hopefully all the Max Factor polish formula is like this cause it was a joy to apply (that sounds weird :/). So we should all go try some, thanks for reading and have a lovely day!! :)

Rainbow Star Nail Art

Hello!! I mentioned 2 posts ago that I did some nail art over The Face Shop - Vanilla Sugar Yogurt 01 that I loved and I have it here today. It's pretty sweet :)

:D I really like it :D I was a bit meh for a while until the moment I matted it (Rimmel - Matte Finish) *Hallelujah chorus* All the colours were popping and the glitter in the polish was standing out. It was a beautiful moment. When everyone was posting their 4th of July manis I was smitten by all the stars. I love stars but I feel like I neglect and forget them sometimes. Stars are awesome. And look how fun this design is because of them!! :)

When painting the stars I didn't mind if the star wasn't completely opaque cause then the glitter could come through. I freehanded the stars, I first drew the outline of the star then filled it in with the polish. I'm proud of my stars cause they're quite nice and it was a non-dominant hand effort.

Base: Barry M - Matt White (2 coats) and The Face Shop - Vanilla Sugar Yogurt 01 (3 thin coats)
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
Green: China Glaze - I'm With The Lifeguard
Blue: Color Club - Sky High
Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black

I have another somewhat similar star design that I really like that came from a fail, proves stars are awesome :P Thanks for reading and have a great day!! :)

Watermelon + Palm Tree Nail Art

Oh hello there!! Ok I made a mistake (be careful when changing your blog name, if you're thinking about it I recommend reading this post, super helpful) and now people can't get my posts, it can most likely be fixed. But after a lot of thought (I meant a LOT) I've decided that it's probably not all bad. I have an extremely busy year ahead of me and the posts will definitely be dropping. Also I found the "pressure" of the blog makes me enjoy painting a little less, I still love blogging but I've decided to blog for myself (literally haha). I'm really sorry but messing up but this has always been a small blog and I can't imagine anyone missing me too much haha. But if you ever happen to stumble here, hey I hope you like the nail art etc. I'm still gonna be here talking to myself though, I'm gonna have to get used to it but it's for the best. That's what I love, just painting and writing about nail art and polish, that's why I'm here :)
But enough of that, today's nail art was inspired by Ashley Tisdale (I didn't know that :P). My friend sent a picture to me. It's super cute and I made a few changes, it's a super suitable summer mani.

It just screams summer, and it's pretty cute. I busted out the neons and a new matte glitter polish(!!! Post on that soon). So it's double accented, surprise surprise cause I never use the thumb and ring finger for accent ;) Never. And I know the watermelon slice on my pinky turned out incorrectly :/

I've done the palm tree silhouette on a gradient before but it looks so awesome, and the glitter weirdly worked. I mattified the whole look and oh man I love matte nails. I want to do more silhouette manicures cause they are so pretty.

Green/Blue: Barry M - Greenberry
Greenberry is amazing, there's a reason this used to be my perfect colour, I love it!! And 1 coat, amazing is the word.
Neon Green: China Glaze - I'm With The Lifeguard
Neon Pink: Nails Inc - Notting Hill Gate
Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It
Matte Glitter(!!!): The Face Shop - CMX321 (comeon, no cute name?)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black

Hey thanks for reading and still have a lovely day!! :)

Gimme Glitter: The Face Shop - Vanilla Sugar Yogurt 01

Hello there you fabulous folk!! Ok first thing's first, blog name change, I'm now here at www.plumeriapainted.blogspot.co.uk. I've been debating about changing it for a while and I took the plunge. It's a more nail related name though I did really like my old name. I'm getting used to PlumeriaPainted and I do really like it. I tried to make the changes I said I would make in a previous post but it was an epic fail haha (I suck at the internet), so I'm gonna keep working on it.
I just want to say I blog because I really enjoy it and I love it when I get a follower but I want this blog to continue because I love to and not for followers (though I appreciate it an incredible amount), if you get what I'm talking about. I hope you enjoy reading this blog and seeing the nail art (and "swatches") I produce. Just thanks again for that, I was thinking about it the other day and I had to write something about that.
Anyway back to the polish, I found out about this polish from Lacqueerisa, she's seriously the loveliest (emphasis on lovely) person I have encountered on the nail scene and she does the best geometric designs and yeah everyone should go and check out her blog cause I'm really grateful for the comments she's left on this blog and she recommends awesome polishes like the one I'm showing. So go!
It's The Face Shop - Vanilla Sugar Yogurt 01, the first Face Shop I went to the girl had no idea what I was talking about and it was kind of embarrassing but thankfully at the next Face Shop I went to this pretty polish was sitting there. I kind of got another polish from The Face Shop and I'll be showing that soon too.
Ok clearly I'm in a rambly mood (sorry 'bout that). To the pictures!! :)

Look at the prettiness!!! I'm in love with the glitter in this, near rainbow which I'm always on board with. I'm especially in love with the orange glitter, don't know why but it's awesome. So Vanilla Sugar Yogurt is a white base with red, orange, yellow, green, blue small and medium hexes and small purple hexes. Ok just loving all the hexes really. Lacqueerisa compared this with KBShimmer Oh Splat! in her post which I think is accurate but I think Oh Splat! also has larger medium hexes too. Come on who can deny how nice this polish is??

I was debating about this and another polish from the yogurt range, the purple one with gorgeous glitter within. But I convinced myself that I didn't need it cause I already own quite a lot of pale purples and if I ever get KBShimmer Where's My Peeps At I don't want a similar purple version (though I wouldn't mind having a similar purple one I wanted to be controlled haha).

I put 3 thin coats over Barry M - Matt White. I wanted the glitter packed look and the glitter payoff from each stroke was great. You can wear this by itself but I didn't want to. There was a bit of mild placing, but nothing major. The formula was not problematic at all.

I have a nail art look with this as the base and I kind of love it, looking forward to showing that to you :) Thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day!! :D

Blue Nails: OPI Liquid Sand - Get Your Number

Oh hello there you fine folks!! I mentioned in my last Liquid Sand post (Jinx, my thoughts are pretty clear about it) that I had another textured polish to show you. I hinted it was really sparkly and that there polish is Get Your Number. I'll start with some textured pictures.

Get Your Number is a textured blue jelly with holographic and blue shimmer and larger (but still small) pieces of holographic glitter. It's from the Mariah Carey collection earlier this year. I used 3 coats, it built easier and wasn't difficult to manage at all.
To be perfectly honest I had very high hopes after Jinx, and I don't know why but this kind of fell flat for me. I guess I was expecting super sparkle (the bottle was sparkly man), some rise to the occasion, some fall flat. But really, I should love every element of this, it's blue with holographic glitter. I guess the holographic glitter isn't so holographic when hidden by a jelly and texture. That said I still like it. It's rougher than your average rough glitter which led to me feeling it more.

I added 2 coats of topcoat (still has a little bit of texture after) and I liked it much better. The holographic shimmer/glitter and the blue shimmer came out and looked much more interesting. The blue was also slightly darker and brighter. During application I was expecting a brighter blue but it dried a bit duller, topcoat brings it back.
Honestly removal wasn't too bad, give it some effort and it's off. Definitely nothing like those glitters that fuse to your nails. I found Get Your Number was easier to remove than Jinx, also with Jinx the golden shimmer got everywhere. Obviously I could deal with it though.

Here is a blurry picture to show holographic sparkle, it was nice but not mind-blowing. I guess I'm spoilt by Topshop - Razzmatazz (sorry for the shocking pictures in the post) so I wanted more holographic glitter. In more direct lighting there's more sparkle but still not good enough for me. I love holographic glitter and I have high standards (oh dear...I've made things difficult for myself :/). One thing about Get Your Number is that I found that it made my nails "chunky" (not in a bad way), I have narrow nail beds and I found this polish gave the illusion of wider nails. Just me?

So these are the liquid sand polishes I acquire, once again even though I am not "can't even"-ing about Get Your Number, I am still a fan. I'll be wearing it again just to feel the texture (in a non-creepy way? :/). I don't think I'll be getting more textured polishes until something wonderful comes along. Loving the other one, liking this one. Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)
