Purple Nails: Seventeen - Parma Violet

Hey there!! I have a pale purple today and I have to say nail blogging has made me a lover of pale purple polishes and seriously I think this is one of the nicest I've ever seen. Surely we all love pale purple at this stage.

Parma Violet is a super pink toned pale purple, and this is just gorgeous. I love it!! The pink tone makes it look fabulous.

Parma Violet is actually the perfect name, yes I've commented on the names a lot but that's because they're on point. I love Parma Violets, I don't think if they're just a British thing but I think they're so good. The colour of this isn't the same colour of parma violets at all but who cares when it's this nice.

The formula was amazing, 2 coats and it was so opaque and easy to apply. So I'm impressed, gone are the days of super sheer pastel polishes (hopefully at least).

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Purple Nails: Orly - Frolic

Hey guys!! School's started back up which is always a sad time but its' actually not been too bad so far. But again, early days yet. While on holiday I got a few polishes, this being one of them and I totes love this colour.

Frolic is a pinky toned medium purple and the colour is so gorgeous!! I just love it, I don't have a purple like this at all. It's the pink tone I've been looking for cause if you didn't know I hate red toned purples, they are not pretty. And what a cute name too!!

I love Orly and I've always found it was a shame that I can't get it in the UK. They used to have minis in Boots but they were rubbish colours. I know Frolic was from a collection ages ago. Orly does such pretty colours, one of my favourite unattainable mainstream brands. We were in a boutique type place and they had a bunch of Orly (and OPI and China Glaze) but I was only interested in the Orly. No regrets cause this is so nice.

All the pictures show how the colour can change in different lighting. The polish was very opaque, I used 2 coats and the coverage was great. It was more of a watery formula but not too much. Formula was really great, makes me want more Orly haha.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Purple Nails: Illamasqua - Seance

Hello there guys!! Ahh my first post-exam post, it feels good. I have a bundle of nail art to go up (all done during exams haha, sometimes I got a little bit of free time) then my blogaversary post which I missed this year cause exams and business and stuff. But that will go up in due course too and hopefully won't take too long cause I actually have time. I definitely want it posted in June even though my blogaversary was the 6th. 3 years of blogging. That's quite long.
So I have another TK Maxx Illamasqua steal today, in Seance, the name sounds snazzy even if it means something weird.

Seance is a red-y plummy purple polish with lots of silver shimmer within. It's pretty but the problem is I hate the colour plum, there's a dirtiness to the colour that I really don't like. Except this colour kind of borders in between that I just about like it. I'm very particular about my shades. I'm looking for like the perfect red-y purple that isn't plum, it isn't the easiest task.

We know Illamasqua is my favourite high end brand, the only one I think is worth the money, especially when you get it for less than a 3rd of the price. I think this was in the same collection as Omen (don't quote me on that), it has the same silver shimmer which is really pretty. As long as Illamasqua keeps making amazing unique polishes I will buy them.

Illamasqua formula tends to be perfect and this is part of that lineage. Very opaque and easy to apply, I'm pretty sure this is 2 coats and maybe 3 if you wanted but it's not really needed. Not much else to say on that front.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Falling purple blossoms + striped nails

Hey there guys!! This manicure was inspired by the Manicurator, I thought this look was really pretty and I did my take on it (hers was better haha) except with purple and brown. I love the combination of purple and brown now.

I was trying to make the other flowers more artsy and had a bit of a fail, it's just too messy. But I love the stripes and the falling flowers, really nice. I know the stripes aren't perfect, but for freehanding it I don't think it's too bad. The flowers over the stripes were my fave, it's a classy look?

I mentioned I freehanded the stripes, and everything else I used toothpicks and the brush of the polishes. Like I used the brush of the polish for the stripes and tidied up with toothpicks if needed be. For the brown parts of the flower I tried to be more loose and free and go a bit wild. But I think it was too wild, the loose and free has worked for me a lot but not for this design.

White: Barry M - Cotton
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Pinky purple: Illamasqua - Seance
Light purple: Barry M - Prickly Pear
Dark purple: OPI - Plum & Get It
Brown: w7 - Brownie

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a really nice day!! :)

Purple + brown + glitter leopard print nails

Hi there!! Man it's been a while since a leopard print, I think this is also good cause I did them a lot it was my go-to fast and easy design but a girl gets a bit sick and um, busy. It's quite snazzy, nothing amazing but alright.

I adore the combination of purple and brown like the Different Dimension Mystified, the combination of the purple and brown glitter is so gorgeous. I like this leopard print but it looks a bit off, the glitter really helped by covering and tying everything together. Also did you notice I smudged off a spot on my pinky? I didn't bother painting it back.

I got my polishes and then randomly dotted them on my nails trying to keep them quite spaced apart. I then got my toothpick and did the little lines around the spots. Then glitter.

Dark brown: w7 - Brownie
Metallic brown: The Face Shop - Gl112
Pale purples: Barry M - Prickly Pear and Barry M - Berry Ice Cream
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Dark purple: OPI - My Current Crush
Light browns: Nails Inc - Sao Paulo Streets and Nails Inc - Porchester Square
Brown: Paris Collection - Mauve Melody
Glitter: OPI - Polka.com

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a nice day!! :)

Purple Nails: Barry M - Fashion Icon

Hey guys!! I hope you're having a great December, I so am. I've managed to manage my crazy (debatable) life and I'm loving it. I'm doing a Secret Santa with my maths pals (you guys now have an idea of how cool I am) and we're giving our presents really soon and I am so excited. Oh course I had to get maths related gifts and it's so perfect and I can't wait!!
Ok guys you know I love my glitter but this is something special, from promos I didn't think much of these polishes but now I need them all, this is what I get for "doubting" Barry, the best surprise. Not saying I should doubt him again, Barry always does an amazing job.

Had to use mah phone to try and get an accurate picture, it worked though
I couldn't capture the amazingness but could not stop staring at my nails for how sparkly and amazing they were. It's so sparkly. The amount of compliments on this polish too was insane, everyone was in awe of the gorgeous colour and how sparkly it is.
Fashion is a royal purple (is this a real colour?) glitter with a stunning blue/pink duochrome effect with holographic glitter. When was this not going to be a recipe for success? That shimmer is also incredible, I think I actually managed to capture the shift. Except the pictures are too blue, my friends described the purple as "Cadbury purple". I think that's accurate.

This is part of the Glitterati collection (does this not sound right up my alley?) for this Winter, again it didn't really interest me. I suppose I thought it'd be like some of the other Barry M glitters, not like I didn't like them but they were nothing to write home about. Also I thought the other glitter was iridescent and not holographic, can't be having iridescent glitter ya'know.
But not these are the most stunning glitter polishes, this is how a glitter polish should be done. It's actually so perf. The name isn't perf but for the polish I can deal. I can deal well.

As if this polish couldn't get better, it just does. I wasn't sure if this would be opaque by itself but I had to try. But still be wary. I decided to do one nail with just the polish and then layer for the other nails. After 1 coat I thought I'd made a good decision, but after 2 coats the polish was completely opaque. The base polish was totally unnecessary (it was OPI Plum & Get It by the way), and can't even be seen. This is truly how a glitter polish should be done.
The formula is a bit weird, it's quite gloopy and you have to move it around, but it's actually not troublesome at all despite the weird formula. Such a good polish guys.

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Purple Nails: The Body Shop - A Grape Affair

Hello!! I have a nice polish to show you today, quite recently The Body Shop released their nail polish line, Colour Crush or something and I heard good things and they looked quite nice so here I am showing you this polish today :)

From what I saw all the polishes were cremes, but really nice colours at that. A Grape Affair (punny) is a red-toned medium purple creme and it's totally gorgeous, I was going to give this away but then it was so nice and I wanted to try out The Body Shop's polish.

Recently I've been real obsessed with The Body Shop, I've been getting £10 off every month and it really keeps me going back to there. I kind of really want to get the candy apple body butter thing, cause it smells incredible. Anyway back to the polish, the range of colours were really nice and will surely grow, good price at £5 too. As if I needed more reasons to go to The Body Shop, like I almost like it as much as The Face Shop, and I love that place.

The formula was brill and will keep me going back, 2 coats easy and probably 3 for long nails. The formula was smooth and glided and it was pretty much perfect. The viscosity was also right in the middle, I suppose slightly on the runnier side but overall really really good formula. Like don't hesitate buying Body Shop polish ;)

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Purple Nails: Essie - Lilacism

Hello guys, I got this polish around when my blog started and I've finally got round to giving it a swatch post. I've used it loads but now we be focusing on it. It's a good polish and helped me on my way to loving purple.

Lilacism is your more blue-toned pale purple (ignore the slight pink tone in my pictures). Doesn't suit me but I've never cared about things like that. It's a nice one, my least favourite pale purple but that's only because my other pale purples are boss.

I got this when Essie first came out in Boots and I was so excited, like really excited. I went mental with my non judgemental friend whom I'm glad didn't judge cause haha I go crazy around nail polish. It came out with the Art of Spring collection in Spring 2010 with Tart Deco (excuse my swatch, it's not one of my best), one of my favourite polishes!!!

2 easy peasy coats, no issues whatsoever. There might be mild bubbles in my pictures but it's my fault. The coats could've been slightly too thick. I think Essie formula is generally brilliant. I love the Essie brushes, they fit my nails great. Essie is definitely one of my favourite nail polish brands (I like it better than OPI, and I love OPI :O).

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Gimme Glitter: Barry M - Tinsel Town

Hi there guys!! Another glitter here today, a great gift from my friend (they are all the best). It was a Boots Christmas Limited Edition, love them. But once again I think Superdrug had the better pair, that's just the way it goes. Oh yeah and bar glitter, I really don't mind it to the point where I quite like it. Your bar glitter is not wasted on me.

I guess the other name for this polish is Boots Xmas Limited Edition 2013 D but I'm glad they're finally naming these polishes. Tinsel Town is a pretty good name for this. Well this polish has long pink, purple and green bar glitter, pretty fun, pretty funky.

Some of the pieces of bar glitter were a bit sticky out-y (that sounds stupid) and topcoat couldn't tame it. I pulled out the odd piece that was sticking out. Sometimes the tips would have protruding bar glitter. Not particularly bad though.

I used 3 coats over OPI My Current Crush and the only reason I did that was because I wanted the glitter packed look (like usual). The bar glitter spread really really well, I had no migration to the tips and there was tons of glitter from each coat. A+ bar glitter I say. I just want to say I much prefer shorter bar glitter compared to longer bar glitter, this is longer bar glitter so it's not completely my cup of tea.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

SImple purple flowers + hot pink glitter

Hi there guys!!! Welcome to the new year *manly whoop*!! To a year of good times, being kind and less procrastination. And welcome back to PlumeriaPainted, I love florals and it's nice to start the year that way. Inspired by Mr. Candiipants cause this floral design was a stroke of genius, so easy to do yet looks so good!! The colour combos are endless and I just love her nail art, it's incredibly funky and on another note she is just hilarious!!
Also I feel like I want to mention her cause of the whole stealing issue that we've been all hearing about and unfortunately Candice has been affected by. I'm appalled with the stealing and frankly I think it's sickening, this is hard work created by talented artists and it's carelessly being stolen for profit (and probably to aid egos too). There are plenty of places to read up about it if you want to so I'm not gonna go into it.
I always give credit when I'm inspired by another, it's common decency really, and they deserve it! I can imagine she who will not be named stealing from me (which is something I'd hate to happen) and her getting away with it cause this place is so small, but people are catching on and hopefully she'll be stopped. She's stolen from the big dogs, obviously someone is going to notice!!
Lol that got deep, sounds like something from a fantasy movie (;)), sorry to start the post with a mild rant but it's been very apparent lately. Anyway to the nails, we are now back to focusing on the nails!!!

I was stuck with what to do with my nails then flowers appeared, then all the glitter. I thought the design could do with more pink so glitter was the answer. I told myself to use less glitter in designs but I don't think I can do that, expect lots of glitter this year (and all the years)!!! I quite like this, it's simple and sweet. Also the odd appearance of the square glitter is cool.

The flowers were done with the brush of the polishes, so easy to do. Also I used no black nail art pen, I placed black glitter and I really liked it. The hot pink glitter was a mixture of dabbing and placing, I wanted quite a lot of glitter. My bottle of Minnie Style has more pink due to me placing the white glitter in that polish in various designs.

Peachy pink: Barry M - Princess
Glitter: OPI - Minnie Style
My bezzie bought me another bottle of this cause she is the best, I feel like 2 bottles is fine and also they are very different. My current bottle has squares (not to mention a big decrease in white glitter) and my new bottle has no squares and an equal amount of pink and white glitter (obviously not exactly equal) :)
Purple (lightest to darkest): Essie - Lilacism, Barry M - Prickly Pear with Topshop - Razzmatazz, Illamasqua - Jo'Mina, OPI - My Current Crush and OPI - Plum & Get It
Black: the black glitter from Barry M - Ruby
Green: Barry M - Greenberry

Thank you so much for reading (ma lil' rant lol) and I hope you have a great day!! :)

The Psychedelic Stars in the Bright Sky

Hi there guys!! It's nice when things actually work your way, actually I'll link a song that I'm in love with that I feel is relevant and it's an amazing song. Anyway I have some crazy star nail art, cause I love stars and I don't give them enough love.

I love the way stars look, they just look great. I wanted a wavy connected across all the nails kind of look and it was kind of achieved. I also like the pairings of the colours of the stars (well that was wordy). Just a cute little look :)
I was also trying a new polish, which I have to say I was very underwhelmed with, you probably won't be seeing it again as I don't really like it.

Base: Deborah Lippmann - Lady Sings The Blues and Rimmel - Disco Ball
And a wild Deborah Lippmann appears, I promised myself I would never buy a Deborah Lippmann polish cause they are extortionately expensive and I don't think the colours are all that special. But TK Maxx was offering me 4 Deborah Lippmann polishes for £12, 1 Deborah Lippmann polish costs £18 and it's a pretty great deal. But I'm giving the others away as presents cause they don't really tickle my fancy (what a strange phrase). Disco Ball really made the polish look better, I liked the glitter in Lady Sings The Blues (also I like the name of the polish) but it wasn't very apparent and what I liked least was how dark it was. I like dark blue but it was pretty much black and I'm just not a fan, so don't expect to see this one again haha :P
Purple: OPI - My Current Crush
Light Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror and Nails Inc - Abbey Road
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White and Barry M - Lady
Teal: Barry M - Guava
Blue: Rimmel - Azure Blue
Green: Rimmel - Block Your Green!
Light Green: Barry M - Greenberry

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!! :)

Pretty Painted Pinwheels

Hi there guys!! See what I did with the title? Pretty is debatable but I do like these. Chelsea Queen put up a video on her instagram on how to do pinwheel nails and I was there. By the way I love her nail art and I need to try her florals, I need to try everyone's floral. It's a shame I'm not very good at floral nail art :/ I would abuse that shizz.

I love the way pinwheels look, expect many more. Ok yes I messed up my segments cause I was doing this any old how then I realised when you use 3 colours you kind of need 3 segments of each colour. Total I had 8 instead of 9 -_- I made it work though!! You see how neatly Chelsea painted hers, well mine was not like that at the start. I neatened it bit by bit during the painting process. I definitely wanted glitter packed sections and Barry M Amethyst was so perfect. Glitter packed things are awesome.

Sorry about my cuticles, there's a reason why you haven't been seeing this hand. I healed 2 cuts but then I got another one -_- Go editing magic
The glitter was very rough though, 2 coats of topcoat and a coat of matte topcoat and you can still feel the glitter in some parts. I love matte manicures, but I think the Rimmel matte topcoat isn't completely matte, more satin matte. But it's cheap so it's ok. The section sizes was a bit trial and error but it came together in the end.

Purple: Barry M - Prickly Pear
Prickly Pear is such a gorgeous colour!! I just love it!! It's also so shiny (I'd hope so with a line called "hi-shine").
Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia and Color Club - Wing Fling
Glitter: Barry M - Amethyst

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 12 - Stripes

Hi there guys!! Stripes are not my forte, normally they're just not that great for me when there are tons of gorgeous striped manicures out there.
Over the summer my friend sent me a picture she saw on Pinterest and said it's be cool if I'd tried it. Thing was I had so many nail art things I also wanted to try so I didn't get round to it. But her picture fit the striped theme perfectly and I went and gave it a go (unfortunately I don't know where or who created the design, but theirs was snazzy).
By the way I'd love to have Pinterest but the long and short of it is that, I know if I got it my life would be spent on Pinterest, which wouldn't be so great for me right now ;)

Sorry my hand's so weirdly coloured, my lighting was being weird
The original has a very different colour scheme but I felt like I wanted some green so I did that (I don't know a less stupid way of saying that). They also used black tape, which I don't have so I freehanded the stripes, they're a bit wobbly but I like them nonetheless. The design is pretty cool, lots of colours can be used and I like the colour scheme I chose.
I showed it to my friend in school and she said she thought it was nice and was glad to provide me with inspiration ^_^ Bless her.

I painted a stripe of colour with the brush of the nail polish, then drew some thick-ish lines in black. I don't know why this reminds me of bandages. But the lines going in different directions is pretty funky.

Base: China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint and OPI - Pirouette My Whistle (subtle, but there)
Stripes:
Thumb: Nails Inc - Baker Street (blue) and OPI - Plum And Get It
Index: Barry M - Prickly Pear (purple), The Face Shop - BL601 and Revlon - Blue Lagoon (blue)
Middle: Barry M - Fuchsia (pink) and Color Club - Sky High (blue)
Ring: Color Club - Wing Fling (pink) and Illamasqua - Jo'Mina (purple)
Pinky: The Face Shop - PK105 (pink)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black (as always)

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day, look forward to seeing you for animal print!! :)

Shimmery Blue + Purple Leopard Print

Hi there guys!! I hope you are having an absolutely lovely day and a great start to your week!!! It is that time of the month again... LEOPARD PRINT TIME!!! You cannot go wrong with a nice, unnatural (thinking about it I've never done a natural leopard print before...) leopard print.

I painted more spots than I usually do. And they're smaller, I guess when you paint a larger amount of leopard (let's call it that) you run out of things to say. Um... I like leopard print?
Base: Revlon - Dreamer and Models Own - Indian Ocean
Pink: OPI - Japanese Rose Garden
Shimmery Pink: Barry M - Pink Foil (Boots LE Xmas 2012 B)
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Indian Ocean over Dreamer looks absolutely gorgeous, it brings out the duochrome-y-ness (so not a word) but Indian Ocean. Me encanta. I quite like all those colours together, I was in the mood for more cool toned colours.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!!!

Blue + Purple Ombre Ikat

Hi there guys!!! Hope you all had a relaxing day, and getting ready the weekend. Mine won't be eventful I can already tell but I also have a couple of days off school which I truly am excited about. Since I liked the ombre manicure I did the other day I was like "More ombre", and ikat was apparently on my mind so also "More ikat".

I really wanted blue and purple even though I knew I didn't have a medium purple. I used all the purples I own in this design. You can see that Lilacism and Berry Ice Cream are rather similar. I much prefer Berry Ice Cream.
Blue (Darkest to lightest):
Kiko - 265
Nails Inc - Baker Street (which was gorgeous as always)
Essie - Bikini So Teeny
Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Revlon - Blue Lagoon
Purple (Darkest to lightest):
OPI - Plum And Get It
Butter LONDON - Shambolic
Rimmel - Purple Pulse
Essie - Lilacism
Barry M - Berry Ice Cream
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Models Own - Snow White
For some weird reason the picture looks nicer than it did in real life. It wasn't so hot in real life, some elements just didn't work. Middle and ring finger colour combinations were nice. Also if you're going to use black don't use a dark background (I've done this before -_-).

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!!!! :)

Cute Giraffes

Hello there. Ever since my Christmas design that somehow reminded me of a giraffe (it's only me who's reminded of a giraffe, I don't think anyone else would see the giraffe :/), I've been itching to do some giraffe nail art.

I'm happy with how this turned out, I think it's pretty cute. I've been loving the Barry M purple, for a year I pretty much never used it and now I've been reaching for it a lot. The brown leopard print on top of the purple looks surprisingly nice. The purple giraffe could be mistaken for a cow but you can kind of see the giraffe resemblance. The purple giraffe is also a Victorious reference of Cat's purple giraffe (I love that show and there's a new episode tonight!!! :D).
Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
Pale Purple: Barry M - Berry Ice Cream
Dark Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It
Dark Brown: w7 - Brownie
Light Brown: Nails Inc - Porchester Square
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White (as base for nail art): Lovely Me:Ex - White
The formula of Lemon Ice Cream wasn't too great, 4 coats and still a tash streaky, but it's still my favourite yellow (also due to my lack of yellow nail polish and how I'm not the biggest fan of yellow). And yes, more leopard print, but I think it definitely adds to the design ;)

Thank you very much for reading and have a wonderful day!!!

31 Day Challenge - Day 6 - Violet Nails

Something about purple… Just washes me out, purple is probably my least favourite colour to paint my nails (not including neutrals, cause neutrals in general aren’t my thing). Well today I actually knew what I wanted to do. It could end up hit or miss. Thankfully it hit, I’m tired of missing :L I’ve seen these all the time, but typically in orange.

I went a bit crazy with the blobbing of colours, then crazy with the glitter, but it was all part of the master plan. I actually didn’t like the design until I added the white spots. It does really add a lot to the butterfly wings, they really make all the difference. This design is pretty simple and I’m surprisingly happy with the result. I didn't do a left hand picture as I messed it up, I didn't do enough segments and it didn't look right.

By the way I woke up this morning and looked at my blue nails. There were these random dark blue splodges on 2 of my nails. My thoughts were “What the heck is that??!". And it just wouldn’t come off. But anyway cleaned it off as the bubbles were annoying also.

Again the black pen :L Can’t seem to stop using it, but it is extremely useful. I feel my nail are SO short, as I said I like normal length nails but not claws but, it's just too short!!! I WANT MY CLAWS BACK :L (this is how bad it’s got).

Base coat update: Actually got a decent coverage today as I found a technique to how to get more polish out. It’s so gloopy that even when it’s laying on its side it’ll take a couple of minutes to flow on its side. Well soon after discovering the technique the brush broke off the lid, and honestly it’s hard to tell how much longer it will survive.

Colours used:
Lilac: Essie – Lilacism
Hot Pink: No7 – Me! Me! Me!
Dark Purple: Rimmel – Purple Pulse
Slivery Lavender: Natural Collection – Amethyst
Silver Glitter: Barry M – Silver Glitter
Iridescent Sparkle: Barry M – Pink Iridescent
White: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails – French White Tip
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black (no name)

Lilacism was a redder tone than I expected, but I was just expecting a cool blue toned lilac. I bought it hoping it would change my mind on purple nail polishes. It didn’t, purple just washes me out. But I still like Lilacism and I would definitely use it more.

Equipment used:
Makeup sponge
Bobby pin
