31DC2013: Day 7 - Black and White Nails

Hi there guys!! I had a nice simple idea for this, but I decided it was apparently too boring (nothing wrong with it at all just saying) and I randomly added Snoopy (which was an idea I've had for this but I've already done Snoopy nails). I really like the addition of Snoopy even though he's a bit unrelated.

Piano nails...and Snoopy...with a heart. I like the completed look, I'm all about random sometimes, this is definitely one of those times. The piano keys are so easy to paint and look cute, Snoopy was harder to paint (proportioning, it's always proportioning) but I'm happy with how he turned out. I was going to colour in the heart, but decided to keep it a monochrome look! And Luxe and Lush adds a bit more interest to your simple black and white mani.

I love the piano, I've been playing since I was 5 and it's a brilliant versatile instrument. It's a reason why I keep my nails short sometimes (sometimes being the key word) cause it makes an infernal clicking noise. During June this year I really had to keep my nails short cause I had a piano exam, but I got my results and I passed my Grade 7 piano exam!! It was difficult not gonna lie, and it's only going to get harder but I love the piano so it's ok :)

I've fallen out of favour with Luxe and Lush but I'm loving it over white, it just looks awesome. The flakes do the whole orange to green and normally look blue/purple. But it's extremely rough (even with an amazing Color Club topcoat) and there are bubbles and I had to do thick coats for even flakes. Not obvious bubbles so it doesn't bother me much, haha in the past I thought the bubbles were added random glitter, even though I couldn't see random glitter in the polish it was just there :P

31DC2013: Day 6 - Violet Nails

Hi there!! I think the prompt just means purple nails cause I'm not sure if I used violet. This is a bit meh, I cut my nails too short (but it's been helpful in terms of daily life) and this probably would've looked better on longer nails, but hey I don't think it's bad, just meh.

I wanted the drips over a textured polish (different textures at once oh la la), the cremes ended up being a bit textured due to that but the glitter smoothed it out a bit. I wanted to do layers of purple (not in a gradient style), but gradients look much better so I added glitter to just the illusion of a kind of gradient. The purples don't get lighter eventually in the pictures but in real life Jo'Mina is darker and it works better.
For this I think more blue should have showed but these are purple nails so it's best this way. Also the blue and purples are a bit too close, maybe I should have put the darkest at the top and lightest at the bottom. And yes the shards still annoy me, I had to pick some off, why can't they stay flat on my nails like happy shards?

31DC2013: Day 5 - Blue Nails

Oh hello there!! Continuing a theme from last year that I started during the 31 day challenge and I decided to continue, I have Eeyore here today. I've previously done Tigger, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, I'm thinking of actually getting round to painting all of them. It's looking good currently :)

To be honest I wasn't impressed in real life, I felt like there was something that made it not cute. But in the photos the cute factor comes back!! I love when that happens, um Eeyore is adorable, also love how he always seems to be exhausted. The purple french tip was to represent his tummy and the bow on my pinky is for the pinky at the end of his tail.

I like how these are relatively simple but very cute, didn't take me too long (except there were some proportioning issues I had to sort). In my other Winnie the Pooh character designs I purposefully didn't have a black outline to take away the "edge", but Eeyore kind of required a black outline for his details. Blue is my favourite colour so blue nails are always welcome around here.

This was more similar to Bikini So Teeny than I thought, but you can obviously still distinguish them.

31DC2013: Day 4 - Green Nails

Hi there guys!! Today was a day I went in not knowing what I wanted to do, sometimes these are the best days (or the worst) as anything can come to you. I painted my nails with Barry M Greenberry and went from there.

I decided I wanted some kind of geometric thing on my accent and thumb so I drew some lines. I thought of those studs that look nice near your cuticle so angular hearts came from that. The middle finger hearts ended up a bit too big than I wanted it to be but then it ended up being perfect for when I saw a star on my thumb and used pink to highlight it. I drew another heart on my middle finger to connect the pink from my thumb into the mani. It was like filling in the gaps with all the colours, I had fun.
After I was done I was completely satisfied, I think this is mosaic-esque and all the triangles there are my favourites. I think is super cool and edgy (which is my aim cause I'm pretty much the opposite of edgy).

By the way I do hope to get some studs one of these days, they look awesome. After filling in the spaces I would go over the outline again with the black pen to make is crisper. I had a kind of plan going into this but I scrapped it (coincidentally like last year, but last year's was a mess). It was simply to add some bows, it's quite clear why I didn't do this, too simplistic (no offence to bows, they're cute). Whilst I probably would've gone crazy with other elements, I'm loving the design I created instead.

31DC2013: Day 3 - Yellow Nails

Hello there guys!! So do you know... whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lives in a pineapple under the sea? What's that? Spongebob Squarepants? Correct answer!! Sorry that was really lame, I keep doing things like that :/ But yes, that is today's nail art for the challenge.

Spongebob's pretty cool, I have to say I think I proportioned his clothes wrong but I like him nonetheless. I'm sure most of us have seen Spongebob, he was on terrestrial TV too. The full Spongebob mani is pretty funky, I painted his many emotions. My favourite is ring finger Spongebob, followed by index finger Spongebob.

I haven't watched Spongebob recently, it got really weird but I liked it in the past, it was still weird but in an acceptable way. I guess as a kid you can't really tell, that being said I preferred many shows to Spongebob.

Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
This took 4 extremely gloopy and streaky coats, I didn't have this problem before. It was thick and a bit gloopy but 3 coats and it was ok. It was still streaky and the nail art just covered that up, but this was my 1st ever Barry M, even before I got into nail art (feels like a long time ago).

31DC2013: Day 2 - Orange Nails

Hello there!! We're back with day 2 of the challenge and I am still here, this was inspired by my phone case, I was a bit stuck with what to do but once I thought of my case it's perfect to translate into nail art!! I just want to say that 31DC2013 looks super edgy which I can always be onboard with.

The little animal is intended to be a fox, it looks more like a cat or even a dog, but it's quite cute (but not cute enough for my cute standards), I have to say I'm ultra proud of my stripes, yes everyone else is very pro with their stripes, but if you've seen a post with stripes on PlumeriaPainted it's a big fail. I just used the brush of the nail polish and went across, I'm just happy with how equal and straight the stripes are, cause that's all I want.

Orange: Bourjois - Tangerine Fatal
It's one great colour, I love a good orange polish, I explain the story behind this and a nice representation of the polish in my original post and the pictures aren't shocking (:O :P)

The manicure con my phone case sin phone, I'm using a different one currently which is cute but I think the fox will always be my favourite. Come on, it has ears!! Even though they sometimes stab you in the leg/stomach you can overlook these things cause the case is SO cute!!! I got this in Accessorize last year during the Christmas sales, this wasn't on sale but it was reduced before, I thought I could get more of a discount but no prevail, I got it anyway cause it's a fox and has ears.
Ok I just looked on the Accessorize website and there's a grumpy cat phone case with glasses and ears, obviously this is calling to me. But they have a great range of cases, most of them are more whimsical, but they have gems like this too (and nail polish) :)

31DC2013: Day 1 - Red Nails

Hello there guys!! This is happening, the 31 day challenge, this is happening because I have poor discernment haha :/ I've done this before in June last year and I would've loved to do it then but I had a lot of exam craziness. So it's happening now, when most people do the challenge. But, I won't be painting everyday cause simply it's crazy and I don't think I'll have enough time. So this'll be a side project that could last for a while. For I'm excited all the prompts as they are always fun (almost always ;)).

I guess if you want to see my last 31 Day Challenge, I have my recap post, I'm proud of what I painted last year but I'll definitely be working to get much better as I have been since. I'm already 1 up-ing myself (you'll see how this relates to this post) as my photography and nail care is MUCH better, seriously I'm sorry for my cuticles in the past, they were a mess.

Ok I ramble, for red nails this year I have some Mario Mushrooms (not 1 ups but they're related), the standard ones that make Mario bigger and give you an extra hit. I love Mario games, but I don't think this is new. 

This is a happy vibes manicure, whilst painting I thought it was going to turn out wrong. But hallelujah for that not happening!! Black outlines are everything, I'm an avid supporter.

I paired Berry Ice Cream and Indian Ocean and I can't believe I didn't notice this before but the pink shimmer from Indian Ocean on pale purple is SO GORGEOUS, I'd move my hand around just for that shimmer. In alternate lighting the shimmer looks goldish, I picked Indian Ocean cause as much as I wanted to use glitter I realised that I've paired pale purple with virtually every glitter I own so I should take a break from that haha. I've done a post on the combo before but I didn't take in the awesomeness and my pictures weren't very good.
