31DC2013: Day 6 - Violet Nails

Hi there!! I think the prompt just means purple nails cause I'm not sure if I used violet. This is a bit meh, I cut my nails too short (but it's been helpful in terms of daily life) and this probably would've looked better on longer nails, but hey I don't think it's bad, just meh.

I wanted the drips over a textured polish (different textures at once oh la la), the cremes ended up being a bit textured due to that but the glitter smoothed it out a bit. I wanted to do layers of purple (not in a gradient style), but gradients look much better so I added glitter to just the illusion of a kind of gradient. The purples don't get lighter eventually in the pictures but in real life Jo'Mina is darker and it works better.
For this I think more blue should have showed but these are purple nails so it's best this way. Also the blue and purples are a bit too close, maybe I should have put the darkest at the top and lightest at the bottom. And yes the shards still annoy me, I had to pick some off, why can't they stay flat on my nails like happy shards?

Light Purple: Barry M - Prickly Pear
Medium Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Dark Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It
Purple Glitter: Butter LONDON - Shambolic
Glitter Topper: Models Own - Freak Out!
Blue: OPI - Get Your Number
I liked Get Your Number better this time, the holographic shimmer in it is so pretty, but the blue is still too dull for my tastes but I can appreciate it more.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Purple Drips + Black and White Glitter Gradient

Oh hello there!! Today I have a simple nail art look that consists of bright colours (all my designs have bright colours, I realise this isn't really a shocker). But it probably would be fun for summer that anyone can do.

Does what it says on the tin, drips and glitter gradient. The drips look less messy in real life. Black and white glitter over a gradient always looks nice. It's not the best gradient but I don't think it's half bad. I just sponged the colours on. Except it's a bit OD on my middle finger (or maybe the other 2 fingers are UD).

Pink: Orly - Basket Case
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Green: Barry M - Greenberry
Black and white glitter: L'Oreal Color Riche - Confetti
Holographic glitter: Nails Inc - Abbey Road
Abbey Road really added a lot, the drips weren't looking so good then a stripe of Abbey Road gave some kind of dimension.

Short and sweet today (haha that never happens :P), thank you for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day!! :)

Love-ly Nail Art Challenge - Broken Hearts

Hi there!! How are you this fine Sunday evening? I'm pretty chill, majorly looking forward to a lie in (Mmmm yay!!!).

When I saw Broken Hearts, I automatically thought of "Little Broken Hearts" i.e. Norah Jones's newest album. I'm a massive Norah Jones fan, in all honesty I haven't really listened to Little Broken Hearts as I've heard it's quite dark and I just haven't got round to it. I adore "Come Away With Me" though, oh man SO GOOD.

I feel this is one of those situations that it looked better in real life, but oh well. I loved the edginess, probably if you had a word to describe me it wouldn't be edgy :P But this is inspired by the album cover of "Little Broken Hearts", mainly the background colours and the font.
Mushroom: Nails Inc - Porchester Square
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
My other black pen recently ran out (well I think it did anyway, I'll be testing again) so I've started to use my backup. With my old one a massive blob of black would come from the tip and I couldn't be as precise as I wanted, so I would have to improvise (but this was when that pen was nearing the end of it's life). But my new pen is working well now. I pretty much use my pens for every design but they're SO convenient  I got them from The Face Shop (I first stole them from my friend :) but I bought my own after), it's a great place, I think they're nail polishes are fabulous as well. I'm liking Porchester Square, I never thought I would use it this much but it's a nice colour and the formula is great (I coat guys!!!). Not becoming a neutral person I promise (I just can't do that). I also used 1 coat of Dutch Tulips, all you need is a thick coat (just saying, man I have been abusing brackets today).

Thank you for reading!! Have a lovely day and check out everyone doing the challenge!! :)

Glittery Drips

Hey there guys. I hope you had a lovely Tuesday. Today's nail art came from being stuck, I'm still lacking a bit of inspiration but I decided to do some "drip" nails. I used to not be a fan of the look but after trying it out in my doughnut design I think it looks awesome. All this time I've been looking for my perfect peach (I love me a good peach nail polish) and this whole time there's one sitting in my collection. I think it takes the correct colour combination for the drips though, I didn't get it exactly right...

Just saying that when showing my nails in this direction I never know how to pose :/ It's not my perfect peach, but it's a good'un. This grew on me, I didn't intend on going glitter insane but it kind of happens. The blue drip is my favourite, Go Deeper works well here. I shouldn't have put glitter over red though, it ruined it.
Peach: w7 - Sheer Peach
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips with OPI - Excuse Moi!
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream with Orly - Go Deeper
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White with Nails Inc - Sweets Way
Purple: Barry M - Berry Ice Cream with Butter LONDON - Shambolic
Green: Illamasqua - Nomad with Barry M - Aqua Glitter
I don't actually possess a red or green glitter (quite surprising) but pink and teal did the trick. It feels good to use Dutch Tulips, I've been using other reds but they don't compare :P

Thank you very much for reading and have a lovely day!!!!

P.S. Plumeria19 has hit 19 followers and this excites me SO MUCH!!!! :D
