Kanga and Roo Nails

Hey there folks, hope you guys have been good. October's been busy but not as crazy as I thought it would be. Though exams will come up and I will stop being happy lol. Well my school's Autumn concert happened and that was so so nice, also I passed my driving test woo. I am now unleashed onto the roads, we should all be scared hahaha. Today I have Kanga and Roo nails cause I think everyone loves Winnie the Pooh right? It was time to do another one, there's only a few characters I haven't put into nail art yet.

Crazily enough I've never done checkered nails before, I really like the look of them. They were a good pattern for the base and not difficult to do. I'm very happy with Kanga, not so much Roo but it's still good enough for me haha. I've just realised how stupid I am as I type the labels, only now do I realise that when you put Kanga and Roo together it makes kangaroo -_- wow.

I liked when painting the checkered pattern I could be a bit more rough cause I wasn't going for perfectly straight lines with this design. I used the brush of the polish for that then used toothpicks for the teal. Thankfully the brown was opaque to just paint that first (sometimes with a toothpick, sometimes with the brush), then all the details were done with toothpicks. Turns out Roo's face was harder to paint than expected haha.

Brown: Paris Collection - Mauve Melody
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Peach: Paris Collection - Brown Beaute
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Yellow: Ciate - Loop the Loop
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Teal: Essie - Naughty Nautical

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a nice day!! :)

Rabbit (from Winnie the Pooh) Nails

Hello there fine folks on this lovely day (hopefully). This is my 5th Winnie the Pooh nail art design and I'm really liking them, here's my Eeyore one which links to the Tigger, Piglet and Winnie designs. This was my Easter manicure (now you have an idea of how behind I am) cause of Rabbit, and that's Easter appropriate. I got no chocolate eggs but I'm really ok with that, I get more than enough chocolate anyway. My Rabbit design is different from my other ones cause this one follows more closely with how Rabbit actually looks, oo being more artsy!! But not really.

So here I have Rabbit amongst a bunch of carrots and polka dots, I am really proud of how Rabbit turned out, it's nice when things work out right and I think it looks nice. The carrots were dodgier but I don't think they detract at all, and of course polka dots are always cute. I'm onboard with all cute things so I like this a lot.

I started with the polka dots with a bobby pin and I began to tackle Rabbit. I started with a general white base and added the black outline first(!), and then kind of coloured it in. Man proportioning will always be an issue for me but I got there eventually. I finally used my toothpicks for the carrots, I tried making them artsy but in the end I always fall back on cartoony.

Base: w7 - Sheer Lemon and Essie - Shine of the Times
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
Pink: Per Una - Pink (no name)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White and Barry M - Matt White
Orange: Essie - Fear or Desire
Light Orange (that you can't see at all :/): Rimmel - It's a Scorcher!
Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!!! :)

31DC2013: Day 5 - Blue Nails

Oh hello there!! Continuing a theme from last year that I started during the 31 day challenge and I decided to continue, I have Eeyore here today. I've previously done Tigger, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, I'm thinking of actually getting round to painting all of them. It's looking good currently :)

To be honest I wasn't impressed in real life, I felt like there was something that made it not cute. But in the photos the cute factor comes back!! I love when that happens, um Eeyore is adorable, also love how he always seems to be exhausted. The purple french tip was to represent his tummy and the bow on my pinky is for the pinky at the end of his tail.

I like how these are relatively simple but very cute, didn't take me too long (except there were some proportioning issues I had to sort). In my other Winnie the Pooh character designs I purposefully didn't have a black outline to take away the "edge", but Eeyore kind of required a black outline for his details. Blue is my favourite colour so blue nails are always welcome around here.

Blue: Essie - Bikini So Teeny (one of my favourites)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia
Purple: Barry M - Prickly Pear
This was more similar to Bikini So Teeny than I thought, but you can obviously still distinguish them.
Peach: w7 - Linen
White: Lovely Me:Ex- White
Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!!! :)

Oh d-d-d-dear! (Piglet Nails)

Oh hey there guys!!! I hope you're all feeling fine this Sunday evening. The oh dear is not to the Piglet design, but to my chemistry exam tomorrow. Piglet's phrase is perfect for my situation. Oh d-d-d-dear, chemistry is not my thang. Writing this post before some probable cramming. I decided to do some Piglet nails due to my most popular post (my Tigger nails) done around this time last year. I want to get round all the Winnie the Pooh characters, that being said I have done Winnie the Pooh too!! :)

Piglet's a wee cutie (personally I think this looks better in real life), I think Piglet was my favourite as a child, simply because he was pink. I was a pink gal then, still a pink gal now. I did the same kind of design as the last 2 times, I'm not sure how I came up with this the first time, as it seems to smart for me to have made up. But I'll take it!!

I started with a base of Lovely Me:Ex - White so the pink would show up. Barry M - Strawberry Ice Cream is that light pink.
Then I got my toothpick and Orly - Basket Case to do the nose and ears. The same pinks are used for the bases of the other nails.
On my pinky I added some Barry M - Pink Iridescent cause I need glitter.
Lovely Me:Ex - Black was used for the black details, I originally added some white dots to the eyes but this time it didn't work so I went back over with the black. I freehanded the stripes which I was VERY vary about, to the extent where I almost didn't do this design. But at this point it was too late to back out. But I'm really pleased with how they turned out. They aren't perfectly straight, but they're more than good enough for me!!

Well I hope you enjoyed this post, thanks for reading it and have a great day!!! :)

31 Day Challenge - Day 31 - Recreate your favourite challenge

Honestly I've had so many favourite challenges. So picking one wasn't easy. I think it was tied between Day 2 (Tigger nails), Day 14 (Vintage Roses) and Day 23 (Pokemon). But there were so many others that I loved so it was tough picking. I think the thing that swayed me was that my aunt kindly got me a mustard yellow...

(I couldn't help it, I had to cut my nails, and I like this length a lot better)

Winnie the Pooh!!! I recreated the Tigger nails, and by recreating, I created another character on my nails :) It is SO simple compared to the Tigger ones, but something simple can be just as nice. The red for Pooh's t-shirt, I don't normally like the look of eg second and middle finger one colour and the ring and pinky another (do you understand what I''m saying?? :L). But for this I think it works.

Close up of the thumb of my left hand, I'm proud of that, harder than it looks. You have to be very careful with the black pen (or whatever tool you're using). I used white as the base again for the mustard yellow to come out better.

(I don't understand how the colours are so different from one hand to the next, I used the same lighting :/)

And not forgetting my right hand which I am also very proud of. Definitely more difficult but it still looks neat :) (I swear it's just my thumb cuticle that's messed up).

Colours used:
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Mustard Yellow: Topshop - Naked
White: Natural Collection - White and Sally Hansen - French White Tip
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black

Equipment used:
Toothpick

So that's it, the challenge is over. I actually painted my nails everyday for most of it. That probably won't be happening too often anymore. I really enjoyed the challenge, just trying different looks and techniques was SO. MUCH. FUN. (maybe I wasn't that enthusiastic :P). But I think the challenge is a really good thing to try and it does help for manicure ideas ;) This was a fun experiment!! :D
