Blue Distressed Grid Nails

Hi there everyone, if anyone is still here cause I know I've been away for quite a while. Can't say I'll be back much either though. To explain my absence basically I just stopped doing nail art cause I got super into knitting. They don't contradict each other so to speak, like I can have nice nails and knit but I've just kind of invested all my time into knitting (and been loving it). I still like nail art but I've moved on, you know the natural progression from nail art to knitting hahaha.
It's bad that I didn't say I moved away from the blog because of A levels haha. But yeah I got my results and I did pretty well, 3 A's and I've got into uni so this is why I think I will be retiring this blog. I do have one more nail art look before I go but I think it's time to say goodbye. I've had such a good time writing this blog, the point was always to document the creativity cause I've always loved art and while I've felt behind so frequently on this blog it's always been a good time. And while it's been small the feedback I received from anybody always made my day and I've met such lovely people in the nail community so thank you for even reading a few words or taking some time to look at my nail art.
I don't think I'll start a knitting blog, I think I've had my share of blogging but I might start an instagram cause I love pretty things really. I might put up the odd bit of nail art there. I've knitted like a maniac since Christmas and I moved away from the blog, I have a real affinity for hats, I love knitting hats, I don't even know why cause I look terrible in hats but that's where I'm at now. Anyway after that huge explanation I'll get into the nail art, which I obviously did a while ago. I have been doing nail art but it's mostly geometric and I haven't been bothering to photograph (and my cuticles have been a mess haha).

It's been so long since I've done this, I can't remember how to do this anymore. I saw this on someone's instagram but honestly I cannot remember. But they did it in warm colours. I think it's pretty rad, love a bit of distressed and geometric is always so clean. The glitter makes it more clean too.

Trying to keep the same format as before, even though it's not gonna be for long. You know the distressed nails procedure, wipe most the polish of the brush and swipe. Got my toothpick and drew the grid on top.

This is hilarious cause I cannot remember at all what was used so I'm gonna guess.
Blues and purples: Barry M - Sugar Apple, Rimmel - Disco Ball, M&S - Light Mix, OPI - Plum & Get It and I don't think I can guess anymore haha
Black: Rimmel - Black Pearl

I hope you've all been doing well these few months and you've been keeping well, I hope you guys have a great day and until my next and last post!! :')

Neon brushstrokes + tribal nail art

Hey there guys!! We're nearing November and made it through October alive. I had my formal (or "prom") last week and that was fun and that was my last crazy event and I'm enjoying the week off school I've been blessed with. Meaning I did nothing productive lol. Need to sort that. I think November'll be nice. I know it's Halloween time but let's be real Halloween is one day of rubbishness, I have no nail art for that. Also I have nail art I'd prefer to do. Like this little design that was pretty rad, I love neons.

So I used the distressed thing but with neons and since neons are sheer it went well and contrasted that with a jet black geometric design and it's sweet if I do say so myself. It's so striking and I love that. Also I love triangles, fun fact.

So we know how brushstrokes go down with the wiping off all the polish from the brush and going with that. Then I got my toothpick and painted the black pattern, I just went with random designs there's no real correlation. I try my best to do freehand straight lines, I think I've got quite good at it over the years. Of course they're not ruler straight but we do the best we can :)

Who's that Pokémon? Spheal!

Hello nail art people(? I don't know, are you??)!! Continuing my favourite series with the Pokemon nail art, I love this so much. Pokemon are so cute. So today I have Spheal because he's the cutest puffy seal, 'nough said.
Also I recently got Pokémon X and I love it so much, it's so fun!! But I'll elaborate on that once I do some 6th generation nail art. I'm current;y at the 5th gym and I'm addicted like you don't even know haha. I picked X even though it's a bit older because it's the still the newest gen and I love the customisation of my character and I picked X because the legendary is real cute and looks like the Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke. I'm infatuated guys.

Very proud of those spheals which look so cute. Like he's a ball!! I went for a distressed background to give the idea of like ice and aurora borealis. I really loved the look of it, thing is I probably went a bit too cray with the colours but I managed to save it 8) It just gives a very cool look and glitter always helps (unless its the wrong type of glitter...). I have no reason for the speech bubble, I didn't want to do a ring finger accent but then it looked very bare. So speech bubble.

So for the base I did you standard distressed thing where you wipe all the polish off the brush and go crazy with the strokes, I used all the colours. But then went overboard, sometimes you just know when you go overboard like you lose colours. I busted out the cotton bud and the nail polish remover and saved the base!! M&S Light Mix was perfect for the icy look. For the spheals I started with the colours and then did the outline, took a while to get the positioning right but worth it!!

Base: Nails Inc - The Tide Is High
Distressed colours: Models Own - Asscher Blue, Color Club - Sky High, Barry M - Socialite, w7 - Mosaic, Essie - Naughty Nautical (I think, I used so many colours I actually have no idea what I used :/), The Body Shop - A Grape Affair, OPI - Plum & Get It, Barry M - Chai (this one was a mistake, too dirty and dark), Barry M - Berry Ice Cream (or some pale purple of the like, I know no one cares but I do try to be accurate), Barry M - Dragon Fruit and probably more or less but whatever they were, they were a fierce combo.
Flakie glitter: M&S - Light Mix
Blue: Essie - Bikini So Teeny
White: Barry M - Cotton
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Green: Barry M - Kiwi
Red: Barry M - Carousel
Dark red: Barry M - Raspberry

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Distressed art deco arch nails

Hello there!! Man I cannot believe it's April, life has been going so fast this year!! I know that's every year but I feel it's especially speedy this year. Life moving faster ya'know. More nail art today and I really like this design, mega cool, geometric designs are some of my favourites.

Also this was so unbelievably easy to do and I love the way it looks. I love the colour scheme too, I thought it was very art deco, obviously a much less complex art deco but I don't think that detracts. Distressed nails are also super cool. I like the silver outline too, got to stray away from black you know. I think black would've been too intense, also my pen is acting up :P Oh yeah I was totally inspired by Mr. Candiipants!!

So I got the brushes of the polish, wiped most of the polish off and randomly swiped, I tried to make the distribution of colours as even as possible. Then once it was all dry I got my silver on a toothpick and drew the "egg arches", haha some got totally wonky but I thought it added to the design. No need to be perfect :)

Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Orange: Rimmel - It's a Scorcher!
Yellow: American Apparel - Neon Yellow (love this in the design cause it blends great)
Gold: w7 - Golden Sands
Dusty green: Illamasqua - Melange
Dark green: Barry M - Kiwi
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror
Flakies: Essie - Shine of the Times

Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have a fab day!! :)

Cool-toned distressed nail art

Hello you guys!! While it's nail art it's a stinker, like really bad. I think this translates better in pictures but it's still bad. I didn't like having it on at all. I need to do better distressed nails in the future to make myself happier cause distressed nails are so cool.

I think the main issue is the colour scheme, I thought mania would work. But it didn't. The added glitter also didn't help :( But the black is great, it helped but it was a lost cause from the beginning.

With distressed nails you wipe basically all the polish off the brush and do fast strokes with the brush. Very very easy and fun to do in a time crunch (I like that phrase). I'll definitely try this again just because it's so quick and easy.

Silver base: Essie - Blue Rhapsody
Black: Rimmel - Black Pearl
Purple: OPI - Plum & Get It
Plum: OPI - My Current Crush
Blue: Essie - Lots of Lux
Orange: OPI - Where Did Suzi's Man-go?
Green: Etude House - No. 86
Teal: Barry M - Guava
Purple glitter: Orly - Ridiculously Regal
Yellow/green glitter (I tried to cover this cause it looked really bad): Barry M - Sour Apple

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Distressed Catching Fire Nails

Hi there!! After this post I'm hoping for everything to go full Christmas, I LOVE Christmas and I want to do some more unconventional Christmas nail art this year. But winter is here and my lighting is gone, expect to see some different lighting situations. Seriously 4pm my lighting is gone (I mean gone, it is very dark), sometimes it's gone before that and I get home from school after 4pm so I have issues.
Anyway on Sunday I watched Catching Fire and yes it was amazing and I was muy emotional and Josh Hutcherson was perfect and they were very true to the book. I feel like they casted very well, the acting was great and they created some brilliant tension, seriously during the film I was so on edge. And I wanted to do some Catching Fire nails for the movie, I did my nails for the last Hunger Games film and maybe one day I'll show them to you, but for now I have distressed fire nails.

Everybody has been doing distressed nails and I had to jump on the boat cause they look really cool. I used Chalkboard Nail's tutorial and it's really easy and packs on the colour (I love packing on colour). My 2 cents on distressed nails are use a light hand, the distressed effect it better the lighter you lean. I thought the fire and the distressed would go perfect together, not to hard to piece together considering the film's release and the popularity of distressed right now. I really like the way it looks it has that edgy that I love and crave.

Have you guys seen the film? Pretty much everyone I've talked to has really really enjoyed it, I really hope they do a good job with the 3rd and 4th film cause I didn't like the 3rd book but if the film can change my mind I'll know they've done a good job. But I have to say I preferred the film of Catching Fire over the book (I wasn't crazy about the 2nd book, I bet people are yelling at me), I just loved having the story play out for me, maybe I'll get the 3rd book better in film form.

White: Barry M - Matt White

Red: M&S - Poppy and OPI - Jinx
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire and Models Own - Beach Party
