31DC2013: Day 26 - Inspired by a pattern

Oh hello there!! Pattern, I was going to do your standard paisley but then I decided I wanted to do something cooler. So clearly this calls for stationery, stationery have the best patterns. I chose a robot notebook from Paperchase, as it's pretty funky/edgy.

Ok so I abused glitter, it happened again but I (as always) really wanted glitter. The base colours looked really great by themselves. I much prefer this design in photos and as always I'm taking it, but I don't think these are as nice in real life. Once again they got that edgy thing going on. Also my black pen decided to continually flow so I didn't have as much precision as I would've liked.

I really like the pairing of red and Minnie Style, I think it's great (though the robot covers it). These were not meant to be cute robots (even though cute is my favourite thing), they've got a rougher past haha. But once again going to reference to my last 31 day challenge robots, which I loved.

Cornflower blue: Essie - Bikini So Teeny and Barry M - Amethyst
Blue: Nails Inc - Baker Street and Models Own - Freak Out!
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff and OPI - Minnie Style
I don't know how I didn't realise this before but E-Nuff Is E-Nuff is a gorgeous colour!! Another thing I can't believe I didn't notice, 1 coat!! I couldn't believe that either, I did 2 coats out of habit but really 1 coat!! I thinking with time E-Nuff Is E-Nuff might take over OPI Dutch Tulips as my favourite red :O
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror and Nails Inc - Abbey Road
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 25 - Inspired by fashion

Hi there guys!! To be perfectly I have never been particularly into fashion, I just do my own thing and don't really care what's in. I'm glad I got this inspiration early or else I would've been stuck. I was flicking through a H&M magazine (Beyonce was on the cover and she's amazing) and I saw a picture and thought it'd be pretty fun to turn it into nail art.

I liked the colour combination of red, yellow, blue and green and the skirt was pretty fun. I like the messy look of the sponged nails, it'd be a good base for other nail art too.

Inspiration pic, I know there's a holographic outfit behind but I preferred the more colourful one
Sorry cuticles are still not in the best shape
This wasn't all that difficult, I made sure I had a light touch with the sponge or else the splodges would take over and wouldn't be as diverse in colour. I basically painted asterisks over lighter variations of the colour. Those light colours weren't very opaque so I put them over white.

Mustard Yellow: Topshop - Naked (fantastic formula by the way)
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Dark Blue: Barry M - Indigo
Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black
Light Pink: Barry M - Superdrug LE Summer 2013 A
Pink: Orly - Basket Case
Light Blue: Revlon - Blue Lagoon
Middle Blue: Nails Inc - Baker Street
Yellow: Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
White base: Barry M - Matt White

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!!! :)

31DC2013: Day 24 - Inspired by a book

Hi there guys!! Happy weekend!! I'm gonna have to catch up with homework and notes whilst procrastinating, we can all guess what's gonna happen. I actually didn't have too many difficulties picking which book, I thought of my book collection and which was the most visual for nail art. So I picked "Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother" by Amy Chua, really about her and her family and her struggles with parenting. I was surprised I really liked this book as it's not like I could emphasise with her experiences but she's pretty funny and her writing keeps you interested. I'm trying to not sound corny but it's just gonna happen, it's like there's always lots of stories in everyone's lives.

So tiger and stripes and I'm kind of loving the design. I knew I wanted to paint a realistic tiger, and realism is not a thing at PlumeriaPainted so I needed help. And I got the beyond perfect help with Emily's Nail Files tiger tutorial, for one her tiger looked amazing and when she broke it down, it's actually really easy!! I didn't even do my normal white twinkle in the eye cause I was going for realism man.
I went for the textured polish again cause I love Jinx and I really like incorporating textured polish into my manis. I went for the textured on smooth and smooth on textured, but I top-coated the whole design at the end. I wasn't sure if the red-ish Jinx would work for the tiger but I think it's fab, the sparkle is still wonderful. Then I got my white base, randomly painted swipes of orange polish and painted red tiger stripes on top cause of the red title of the book.

I didn't expect to like this book as I don't necessarily agree with extremely strict "Asian" parenting, but it's definitely an enjoyable read for the reasons stated at the top of this post. I guess the author herself learnt there are pros and cons, personally I don't think I could cope with strict parenting. I would crack under the pressure haha.
But one thing I found the last time I read this book a couple of months ago was I would bawl my eyes out when reading, this wasn't the first time I'd read the book and the first crying I was not crying my eyes out. There are sad parts of this book, but when she'd mention her daughter Lulu and what she'd say I felt I really could relate and the worst part about it was her mother wouldn't understand. Sometimes I would just start crying uncontrollably and not understand why, to be honest I still don't really understand why. My mother is no where near as strict as the author but I really empathised with her daughter. Haha it was totes emosh (sorry for all the emotionalness :P). I wonder if I read it again if the same effect would be there, maybe I was particularly emotional at that time :P

Red: OPI - Jinx
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Green: Max Factor - Cool Jade
Pink: OPI - Japanese Rose Garden
Darker Pink: Barry M - Boots LE Xmas 2012 B
Brush stroke base: Barry M - Matt White (base), Models Own - Beach Party, Chili Pepper - Orange (no name) and w7 - Golden Sands

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a really great day!!! :)

31DC2013: Day 23 - Inspired by a movie

Oh hi there guys!! The long week is over, and it was rather long for me with hints of extreme excitement. But I don't think everyone is feeling the same as me. When it came to inspired by a movie I knew right away. I was so in love with this movie when I saw it this summer and seriously it sky-rocketed to the top of my favourite PIXAR films list (and I LOVE Pixar films). Obviously it's Monsters University.

Eeeeeeee!!! I chose to paint the members of Oozma Kappa, I was originally going to just paint Mike and Sulley, but I thought that was rather Monsters Inc (which I also love) and I wanted to challenge myself. So all the Oozma Kappa members it was. I actually love them all, they are such a fun bunch and as the movie portrays for monsters, they really aren't all that scary.
This definitely was a challenge, just getting everything looking right, and I used the actual animation pictures for reference so I had to cartoon them myself. Also there are 6 members of Oozma Kappa and I have 5 nails for this design so some liberties had to be made, I think I compromised well though. So we've got Sulley, Terri and Terry, Art, Don Carlton, Mike and Squishy. I really don't think I can pick a favourite character out of them as they were all fantastic.
At first I wasn't so impressed with my painting, but as I've worn this just the rag-tag group of them make me so HAPPY!! The film gave me ultimate happy vibes in general.

I want this film on DVD so bad so I can watch it ALL. THE. TIME. Clearly I'm not the only one who feels this way as these nails went down a storm at school. I've been thinking of making a Monsters University nail art series, as so many scenes from the movie inspired me (and as you know I LOVED the film) and more excuses to declare my love for this film are never bad things.
Painting wise I did the colours of the characters then did the black and white. That white pen smudges so badly but I covered it up as you do.

White: Barry M - Matt White and Lovely Me:Ex - White (for details)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Light Brown: Ciate - Cookies & Cream
Green: Illasmaqua - Nomad
Dark Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black
Dark Brown: w7 - Brownie
Pink: Essie - Your Hut Or Mine?
Additional Colours
Sulley: Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Terri and Terry: Orange: Models Own - Beach Party
Art: Dark Purple: OPI - Plum & Get It
Ron Carlton: Pink: Essie - Your Hut Or Mine?
Mike: Blue: Nails Inc - Baker Street
Squishy: Peach: w7 - Linen

Thank you so very very much for reading (watch Monsters University, just do it, even if you're seen it before, watch it again. I'm intending to watch it another load of times) and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! :D

Green Nails: Barry M - Greenberry

Hi there!! I have been so busy lately and definitely once the challenge is over the posts will drop in volume. I never anticipated for the crazy that has jumped into my life. There was me thinking I could handle another challenge, that is NOT the case, ambitious cause there is just no way I could've handled it.
So I have a swatch today, the beautiful Barry M Greenberry, this is my old perfect colour with the perfect formula and it's just a fabulous polish.

Sorry for the red-ish pictures, I had to colour correct cause my camera hates green polish
Greenberry is a bright blue-y green, so gorgeous, the colour is just the best. This is another from the Barry M Gelly range and clearly I need all of them (this is going to be a problem :/). I think the polish can lean even greener than in the pictures, it is Greenberry for a reason.

I have no bad things, I'll once again make a comparison with Topshop Green Room where the bottom line is Greenberry is a million times better even though they are virtually the same colour. I'm not even that fussy when it comes to formula. This is not your standard jade or mint polish.

2 coats that glided perfectly, no fuss, I think the brush is good as I had very little clean up. I've got away with 1 coat if it was thick enough and I have long nails, it's almost a guaranteed one coat for short nails.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 22 - Inspired by a song

Hi there guys!! I was stuck for this prompt, so I created a playlist of songs I could possibly do. Then I had too many ideas, in the end it came down to what song I wanted you guys to hear the most. So I chose "Something In The Water" by Brooke Fraser. It's one seriously beautiful song, from the melody, lyrics to the instrumentation, all uplifting and feel good. It's virtually the definition of a beautiful song.

What I painted is a scene from the video, a Russian doll on the sea. It looks kind of paper-y so that's why I made the design matte. I really like this, I don't have much else to say but I feel like you could see something like this in a children's book.

For this design I started with the base, drew the outline and filled in, simple as that really. But lots of colours were involved and a light touch for the little details.

Base: Ciate - Cookies & Cream and Nails Inc - Porchester Square when I needed an opaque polish to cover a mistake (it's slightly darker).
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Pink: Essie - Your Hut Or Mine? (the perfect pink to match the video)
Light Purple: Barry M - Prickly Pear
Dark Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Light Blue: Revlon - Blue Lagoon
Dark Blue: Kiko - 265 (which smudged which I was not impressed with)
Other colours for the sea: Revlon - Dreamer and Models Own - Indian Ocean
Boat: w7 - Brownie, Paris Collection - Mauve Melody and The Face Shop - GL112

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed the song and have a great day!!!! :)

31DC2013: Day 21 - Inspired by a colour

Hey there guys!! Hope your start of the week has been ok. This has always been a weird prompt but I knew I was going to do a design based on a nail polish colour.
My original idea went down the drain as it was far too difficult (maybe one day though), also it was totally inspired by a song (which is tomorrow and I've picked a different song anyway). I was stuck, so I looked down on my stash and saw Plum & Get It, and I thought I'd paint a plum, then I looked over and saw Charged Up Cherry, and was like "Fruit!!". Add in Prickly Pear and we have a basket.

It's been very food based for the last couple of days but food is my favourite nail art to do so no complaints whatsoever. I tried to reflect the name of the polish onto the fruit, so prickly pear is prickly in personality not appearance.
My favourite is the cherry, I think it's the cutest. Something subtle I like about the cherry is the stem, I didn't intend for it to look "shaded" but I like the effect. Of course I also had to slam on some holographic glitter.

The plum is basically a purple apple, but trust me plums look like that too. There were probably more fruit polishes I could've used, but I like the combination of these three.
I know it was meant to be inspired by one colour, but when you have a fruit salad you can't take away some of the essential fruits. What's a fruit salad with one fruit? Just a single fruit, that's why I needed three colours (most long-winded and confusing way of explaining that).

Pink: OPI - Charged Up Cherry
Dark Purple: OPI - Plum & Get It
Plum & Get It is a truly lovely polish, the shimmer and the gorgeous shade of purple makes it so, loved having it on for this design.
Purple: Barry M - Prickly Pear
Another beautiful polish here, such a great colour.
Holographic Glitter: Topshop - Razzmatazz
I shall never tire of holographic glitter, it's beautiful and I need more.
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Barry M - Matt White
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 20 - Water Marble

Hi there guys!! Oh water marbling, why you so hard? That being said this is probably the best water marble I've done (just because there was always something going majorly wrong in my previous attempts). But it was not a completely smooth process. I used Simple Little Pleasure's Watermelon Marble tutorial, quite clearly I didn't follow it exactly as her's look a million trillion times better. Colette is beyond amazing at water marbling, I just watch her videos to see her perfect marbles form. And then do it myself for the same things to NOT happen haha :P

When I finished the marble I thought it was a major fail, and it was my fault the tape was covering a little bit of the nail and I didn't realise as I was careless and didn't check. Quite clearly there is more rind than actual melon. You don't know how the black dots saved it, and I could've added more dots but by then I actually liked the design and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And I really like the colours, so in the end I was happy with this marble.
My favourite nail is my index, which was actually the first nail I did, clearly things went downhill from there. As my index finger is the only one where you can see a watermelon resemblance.

Oh the water marbling problems, they never end do they? My water was probably too cold (didn't leave it overnight :/), and though the polish would spread, it wasn't making a nice target shape, it was kind of lopsided.
I also couldn't draw nice patterns, the polish was doing weird things, like the random pink lines on my nails. I like them but they weren't intended, it's cause the pink blob of polish just moved when it wasn't meant to if you get me. And if I did draw a nice design, I wouldn't dunk my nail into the right part of the design, so the nice part would end up on the tape and not my nail -_- Unfortunately marbling uses a lot of polish which is why even if a nail went wrong I kept it, as dropping the polish in is already wasting it as most of it won't go on your nails.
In my previous marbles where things would go majorly wrong, I could at least see potential in the patterns drawn, I don't see it this time. I guess I researched better the last two times, I do want to get more practice and one day have a gorgeous marble.
The last time I marbled was last August, so I'm definitely out of practice as marbling just isn't something I do often. The first time I marbled was for this challenge, this attempt here is definitely better than then.

White base and white: Barry M - Matt White
Dark Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black
Neon Green: China Glaze - I'm With The Lifeguard
Pink: OPI - Charged Up Cherry
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day, see you next time!! :)

31DC2013: Day 19 - Galaxy

Hi there guys!! If you're reading this now (which I kind of assume you are right now), you're probably wondering why there's chocolate nails as opposed to I don't know, a galaxy? ;) Well I decided to be a smart aleck and inspired this design by the chocolate, Galaxy instead of the galaxy surrounding the earth. Galaxy is the best chocolate, it's by far my favourite chocolate brand, the chocolate is so smooth and creamy. Omnomnomnom.

I tried to replicate the look of the pieces of chocolate in the bar. I got a lot of help from The Daily Nail blog's S'more post, as I wasn't sure how to mimic the look of a chocolate bar. I do like it, I find the nails look more like chocolate from a distance or if you squint :P The other two nails are inspired the Galaxy bar wrapper.

Cookie Crumble is my favourite variation, I find sometimes I don't like chocolate as it's too thick but Cookie Crumble is just so yummy!! This outer shell wrapper is from Monday when my best friend bought some and we ate it before orchestra (and during haha, I'm not dedicated :P).
I was very very hesitant about this design, I kept thinking of backing out and just doing a regular galaxy manicure. But I thought if I didn't try it I won't learn otherwise so I went for it, I'm really glad I did as this is fun (and food)!!

Another thing making me not want to do this was not owning a chocolate brown. Recently I did some de-stashing and got rid of quite a lot and hopefully they'll be going to more caring homes. I haven't given them away yet so I was looking through the bag and found Paris Collection - Mauve Melody, I thought it was too purple-y but it was the best I had, everything else was too dark or too light. Turns out Mauve Melody was perfect!! The formula was great too, just glided on, the purple turned out to be shimmer only in the bottle. I've decided to keep it for whenever I need a medium brown for nail art, it can stay with me :)
The darkest brown is w7 - Brownie and since my brown polish is not in the medium brown categories for the actual chocolate pieces I had to mix polish to get the right colours. The slightly darker half is a mixture of w7 - Brownie and Paris Collection - Mauve Melody. The lighter half is a mix of Ciate - Cookies and Cream, I would've used Porchester Square but Cookies and Cream is more runny (and sheer) making it easier to mix.
The purple is Rimmel - Purple Pulse as I wanted a purple that matched the wrapper, that was also in the destash pile and it's staying there, I just hate the colour! It's far too plum and plum is a disgusting colour. The only other brown I used was the light shimmery brown for some of the stripes, which was The Face Shop - GL112.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, thanks for reading and I hope you have a great weekend!! :)

31DC2013: Day 18 - Half Moons

Hey there guys!! I've been having a wonderful day and I hope you are too!! Half moons are something I don't give a lot of thought to, I'm sure there's some awesome way to wear them that I'm not thinking of. I was inspired by MakeUp Savvy's Dreamcatcher nails, I've seen many but I really liked hers, they've got an eye-catching simplicity.

I really like the way they look, and the placed glitter, I find placing glitter really fun. I think there's generally a fun quality about this manicure.
I got the colour scheme from the album, The Other Side Of Zero (a seriously AMAZING album, I love her music so much) by Elizabeth & The Catapult (like really, her music is some of my favourite ever). And she has a song on that album called "Dreamcatcher" and that's also amazing so the colour scheme made sense to me.

It also fits the half moon theme great, they were very easy to paint, some half moon shapes then some lines. I wanted some subtle glitter too, I'm a fan of the subtle glitter here but I didn't have an orange glitter so that nail looks more busy but I like that, kind of like a really windy day with leaves blowing past (salmon, blue and silver leaves).

I apologise for my cuticles, autumn coldness is taking it's toll on them
Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia and OPI - I Lily Love You
Yellow: w7 - Sheer Lemon and Nails Inc - Glamour Glitter
Blue: Revlon - Dream and OPI - Last Friday Night
Orange (and glitter): Essie - Fear Or Desire and Barry M - Superdrug LE Xmas 2012 B
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White and pink placed glitter: OPI - Minnie Style
Holographic placed glitter: Barry M - Hologram Hexogram

Thank you for reading and I'll see you next day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 17 - Glitter

Hi there guys!! I'm here with day 17 of the challenge (I know I'm behind lol). We know I love glitter, is this even a question. Removal has never bothered me and I just love glitter, it's beautiful. I didn't want to just do a plain glitter manicure, so I decided to base my design on the name of a glitter polish.

You probably don't recognise the characters, but they were from a Playhouse Disney show (when it was good!!) called JoJo's Circus. I watched it a long time ago but it was really enjoyable, I understand clowns are pretty terrifying but JoJo just wasn't. The lion shown was her pet, Goliath who was adorable as were her friends, who were frogs and potatoes.
I was inspired by the glitter I used, Clowning Around. I really don't know how my brain connected those things but I'm glad as I think the characters look really cute and I'm still in love with that glitter, it's neon glitter. A combination of 2 of my favourite things, here's my original post if you want swatches and ramblings of how amazing this polish is.

Clowning Around is slightly different this time, one for some of the glitter bled into the base :( I'm suspecting it could've been the purple glitter as the purple isn't as vibrant as last time. But the good thing was it was an absolute breeze to apply, lots of glitter on the brush that spread nicely. Also minimum bubbles!! And obviously the glitter is still gorgeous. I think Re-Fresh Mint is a great colour for Clowning Around (it hides the pink bled base), it was what I was going to use as a base the first time I used the glitter (I changed my mind though).
For JoJo and Goliath, I used the polish with a toothpick for their basic shapes then did a black outline.

White: Barry M - Matt White and Lovely Me:Ex - White (for corrections)
Green: China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint
Neon Glitter: Lush Lacquer - Clowning Around
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine
Purple: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina
Copper: Paris Collection - Copper Topper
I'm really impressed with the opacity of this polish, when required this will be my go-to copper!!
Light Brown: Nails Inc - Porchester Square
Dark Brown: w7 - Brownie

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day!! :)

Beige Nails: Ciate - Cookies and Cream

Oh hello there!!! I don't have a 31 day challenge post today, so I'll be behind from now on haha. I did say there'd be a point where I'd do this challenge on my own terms and that is now!! Hey, I did 16 days in a row!! I do actually have my design today ready but I didn't take pictures in time so no post today, so I have a "filler" "swatch" today.
I think this is my first neutral nails post cause I never post neutral nails. I got this polish in June with a Marie Claire magazine along with some Ciate caviar beads (Shooting Star). It was the only reason I bought the magazine. I am not really interested in fashion so these magazines are wasted on me, but free nail polish is not. It came in quite a cute box too. But the labels on both bottles are mixed up (e.g. Cookies and Cream has a label saying Shooting Star on the back).

I'm just so meh about neutrals, I think this is a pretty colour but it doesn't do anything for me. It would be a great base for nail art I guess (on that note I do have nail art on this). I just can't bring myself to love a neutral (also I prefer Nails Inc - Porchester Square). These snazzy brands with their nice neutrals are wasted on me.

First Ciate polish, not many polishes from the brand interest me. They're nice, but in my opinion dupable and not worth the price. Also I find cheaper polishes tend to be nicer. But the name is super cute!!

I used 3 coats, 2 probably would've been enough but there were some streaky patches. And yeah there are bubbles on my pinky, my fault, obviously I should've been a bit more patient. It applied great, glided and the brush fit my nails well. Oh this is a nice polish just not my thing.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 16 - Tribal

Hi there guys!! I love a good tribal, they look plain awesome. This tribal was inspired by The Nailasaurus, I've been wanting to do this design since I saw it last year (I seem to take a long time to do designs I like ;)). I thought I wouldn't be as effective due to my lack of matte glitter, but now I have matte glitter!! So I used the colour scheme of the glitter and busted out some "studs" that I've had sitting around for a while. I really love this look, so many elements of awesome (not to toot my own horn, gosh that's a weird phrase, but really so many of my favourite things).

Neon pink, matte glitter, studs, clashing colours, tribal!! This design is for me!! The red and pink matte glitter doesn't show up so well, I judged badly I thought they would show up. But I don't mind as the other types of glitter look great (and no bubbles!).
I did the matte glitter colour scheme inspired and the same ring finger and strip of studs like The Nailasaurus then went crazy with the tribal painting. I've mentioned before I'm terrible at coming up with tribal designs but I don't think this was half bad. I like the triangles on my index finger. I want to try from now on to come up with my own tribal designs even if I find it difficult and don't want to, how else am I going to learn? :P

Also my first time using stud type things and I love them, this is clearly calling for me to buy more (cheap) ones. My friend gave these jewel studs one day as she said she'd never use them and I'd appreciate them (and yes I very much appreciate them). She also gave me some gold loose glitter, I haven't really considered using it but you never know... (don't worry the glitter won't be used anytime soon. it'd end as a messy disaster).
I just love the way these studs look, I thought they were more metal but no, but I think they look great in the tribal.
To apply them, I got an older topcoat, painted on a bit, then dipped my toothpick in a little bit of topcoat and placed the jewel stud on. They were pretty solid, I put a layer of topcoat over and I thought they were really secure and I wasn't tempted to pull them off!!

Pink: Nails Inc - Notting Hill Gate with Barry M - Matt White as a base
Blue: Nails Inc - Baker Street
Green: Illamasqua - Nomad
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Matte Glitter: The Face Shop - CMX321

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!! :D

31DC2013: Day 15 - Delicate Print

Hi there guys!! Delicate print is always a weird one and I've approached it from a weird angle. I thought of pretty delicate things and I thought of a doily (those paper things with shapes cut out) or lace hearts, this design can be interpreted as either.

When I first finished I wasn't very impressed, it's busy cause I abused glitter (it happens all the time here) and colour in general, but give it a day and I quite like it. On the "like" ratio it's between "quite" and "really" like.
You don't even know the difference the rainbow glitter in a white base and the silver glitter in the black base made. Personally I think they made ALL the difference, it made the design from "meh" to "pretty", I don't even know how but thank goodness for that. The shapes don't look particularly like hearts but that doesn't bother me.

I also get a childish feel from this look considering all the different colours of glitter used. My glitters played nice today, like I see these in a different light now.
Well the pastel glitter on my thumb in a slightly worse light as I forgot I can't use that glitter unless my nails are really long, the coverage wasn't good and it doesn't look it's best over purple. But the other glitters were great.
I got no bubbles from Minnie Style and it looked nice (but it tinted the base a light mint green which was weird), I like Excuse Moi! over a hot pink (as I don't like the base of Excuse Moi! by itself) and Barry M Amethyst is gorgeous!! I really liked the mix of glitter but I thought you could only go for the glitter packed look. I was being stupid, if you wipe most of it away you can get a light coverage and it's so pretty, I shall definitely be using this more as it's lovely and won't be a nightmare to remove! :)

Bases:
Thumb: Illamasqua - Jo'Mina and Etude House - WH901
Index: Barry M - Prickly Pear and Barry M - Ruby
Middle: The Face Shop - GR501 and OPI - Minnie Style
Ring: The Face Shop - PK105 and OPI - Excuse Moi!
Pinky: Revlon - Dreamer and Barry M - Amethyst
Black (con silver glitter): Lovely Me:Ex - Black and OPI - Metallic 4 Life
White (con rainbow glitter): Lovely Me:Ex - White and The Face Shop - Vanilla Sugar Yogurt 01

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day!!! :)

31DC2013: Day 14 - Flowers

Oh hi there!! Oh flowers, how I love thee and how I fail at painting you well (most of the time). I was inspired by the walls at a Kate Spade part of a department store (I don't know what they're called), I tried to take a sneaky photo, but it wasn't so hot so I looked up the print online. I could only find the design on a pillow case, but that's all I needed!!

I also wanted a textured on smooth thing going on again like on day 6 (except the other way round). The one thing I was really annoyed about was not going with a white base, last minute I thought the beige-y colour could work. But I know white would've looked far better.
But now I'm more ok with, it gives an antiqued wallpaper feel (I think anyway). I stopped following the pattern after a while and just painted flowers. Overall I really like the design, it's quite classy which I can do sometimes. It pretty different from my other challenge days as it's not all brights haha.

Textured polish actually works great for nail art, no difficulties at all and Jinx was super opaque (and sparkly).
The dots don't look too great (but the pictures don't emphasise them) as when I was using my toothpick the polish wouldn't stay on the tip so I'd have to use the side therefore making more oblong shapes if you get me.

Mushroom Beige: Nails Inc - Porchester Square
Red-y Orange: OPI - Jinx
Wow 2 polishes, that doesn't happen often.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day!! :)

31DC2013: Day 13 - Animal Print

Hi there guys!! Animal print, one of my favourites. Now I could've taken the easy way out and done a leopard print (I haven't done one for 3 months :O) but I decided to branch out. Ok I was going to branch out to something else but changed my mind, and even my final result ended up different than I expected.

I present abstract fish scales. They look better in real life as you can differentiate the polishes better. But I'm willing to try this again with lots of different colours as opposed to colours with similar tones.
I was planning to paint a scale outline on top but after a couple of colours I realised that it already kind of mimicked fish scales. I like the bit of sparkle, it breaks up the "monotony" of the cremes.

Basically a got a ton of colours and got the brush and dabbed random spots around my nails, eventually covering the base. Not very difficult and therefore the abstract term for this design came.

It's hard to tell which polish is which so here's a list (:/):
Base: Essie - Tart Deco
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips and Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire and Chili Pepper - Orange (no name)
Pink: No.7 - Me! Me! Me!, OPI - Charged Up Cherry, Barry M - Fuchsia, Color Club - Wing Fling, OPI - Japanese Rose Garden and Barry M - Boots Xmas LE 2012 B
Sparkle: OPI - Jinx and OPI - Excuse Moi!

Thank for reading and I hope you have a really great weekend, see you for flowers (;))!! :)

31DC2013: Day 12 - Stripes

Hi there guys!! Stripes are not my forte, normally they're just not that great for me when there are tons of gorgeous striped manicures out there.
Over the summer my friend sent me a picture she saw on Pinterest and said it's be cool if I'd tried it. Thing was I had so many nail art things I also wanted to try so I didn't get round to it. But her picture fit the striped theme perfectly and I went and gave it a go (unfortunately I don't know where or who created the design, but theirs was snazzy).
By the way I'd love to have Pinterest but the long and short of it is that, I know if I got it my life would be spent on Pinterest, which wouldn't be so great for me right now ;)

Sorry my hand's so weirdly coloured, my lighting was being weird
The original has a very different colour scheme but I felt like I wanted some green so I did that (I don't know a less stupid way of saying that). They also used black tape, which I don't have so I freehanded the stripes, they're a bit wobbly but I like them nonetheless. The design is pretty cool, lots of colours can be used and I like the colour scheme I chose.
I showed it to my friend in school and she said she thought it was nice and was glad to provide me with inspiration ^_^ Bless her.

I painted a stripe of colour with the brush of the nail polish, then drew some thick-ish lines in black. I don't know why this reminds me of bandages. But the lines going in different directions is pretty funky.

Base: China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint and OPI - Pirouette My Whistle (subtle, but there)
Stripes:
Thumb: Nails Inc - Baker Street (blue) and OPI - Plum And Get It
Index: Barry M - Prickly Pear (purple), The Face Shop - BL601 and Revlon - Blue Lagoon (blue)
Middle: Barry M - Fuchsia (pink) and Color Club - Sky High (blue)
Ring: Color Club - Wing Fling (pink) and Illamasqua - Jo'Mina (purple)
Pinky: The Face Shop - PK105 (pink)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black (as always)

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day, look forward to seeing you for animal print!! :)
