31DC2013: Day 20 - Water Marble

Hi there guys!! Oh water marbling, why you so hard? That being said this is probably the best water marble I've done (just because there was always something going majorly wrong in my previous attempts). But it was not a completely smooth process. I used Simple Little Pleasure's Watermelon Marble tutorial, quite clearly I didn't follow it exactly as her's look a million trillion times better. Colette is beyond amazing at water marbling, I just watch her videos to see her perfect marbles form. And then do it myself for the same things to NOT happen haha :P

When I finished the marble I thought it was a major fail, and it was my fault the tape was covering a little bit of the nail and I didn't realise as I was careless and didn't check. Quite clearly there is more rind than actual melon. You don't know how the black dots saved it, and I could've added more dots but by then I actually liked the design and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And I really like the colours, so in the end I was happy with this marble.
My favourite nail is my index, which was actually the first nail I did, clearly things went downhill from there. As my index finger is the only one where you can see a watermelon resemblance.

Oh the water marbling problems, they never end do they? My water was probably too cold (didn't leave it overnight :/), and though the polish would spread, it wasn't making a nice target shape, it was kind of lopsided.
I also couldn't draw nice patterns, the polish was doing weird things, like the random pink lines on my nails. I like them but they weren't intended, it's cause the pink blob of polish just moved when it wasn't meant to if you get me. And if I did draw a nice design, I wouldn't dunk my nail into the right part of the design, so the nice part would end up on the tape and not my nail -_- Unfortunately marbling uses a lot of polish which is why even if a nail went wrong I kept it, as dropping the polish in is already wasting it as most of it won't go on your nails.
In my previous marbles where things would go majorly wrong, I could at least see potential in the patterns drawn, I don't see it this time. I guess I researched better the last two times, I do want to get more practice and one day have a gorgeous marble.
The last time I marbled was last August, so I'm definitely out of practice as marbling just isn't something I do often. The first time I marbled was for this challenge, this attempt here is definitely better than then.

Watermelon + Palm Tree Nail Art

Oh hello there!! Ok I made a mistake (be careful when changing your blog name, if you're thinking about it I recommend reading this post, super helpful) and now people can't get my posts, it can most likely be fixed. But after a lot of thought (I meant a LOT) I've decided that it's probably not all bad. I have an extremely busy year ahead of me and the posts will definitely be dropping. Also I found the "pressure" of the blog makes me enjoy painting a little less, I still love blogging but I've decided to blog for myself (literally haha). I'm really sorry but messing up but this has always been a small blog and I can't imagine anyone missing me too much haha. But if you ever happen to stumble here, hey I hope you like the nail art etc. I'm still gonna be here talking to myself though, I'm gonna have to get used to it but it's for the best. That's what I love, just painting and writing about nail art and polish, that's why I'm here :)
But enough of that, today's nail art was inspired by Ashley Tisdale (I didn't know that :P). My friend sent a picture to me. It's super cute and I made a few changes, it's a super suitable summer mani.

It just screams summer, and it's pretty cute. I busted out the neons and a new matte glitter polish(!!! Post on that soon). So it's double accented, surprise surprise cause I never use the thumb and ring finger for accent ;) Never. And I know the watermelon slice on my pinky turned out incorrectly :/

I've done the palm tree silhouette on a gradient before but it looks so awesome, and the glitter weirdly worked. I mattified the whole look and oh man I love matte nails. I want to do more silhouette manicures cause they are so pretty.

Green/Blue: Barry M - Greenberry
Greenberry is amazing, there's a reason this used to be my perfect colour, I love it!! And 1 coat, amazing is the word.
Neon Green: China Glaze - I'm With The Lifeguard
Neon Pink: Nails Inc - Notting Hill Gate
Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It
Matte Glitter(!!!): The Face Shop - CMX321 (comeon, no cute name?)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black

Hey thanks for reading and still have a lovely day!! :)

Watermelons yo!!!

^For lack of a good title :/

I like watermelons so watermelons nails are good in my books.

Watermelon Nails 2.0
I was quite messy as I was worried I would disturb everyone in the house with the smell so I rushed. I will call it "being artistic". I think they're fun and good for summer.
Pink: OPI - Charged Up Cherry
Green: Rimmel - Misty Jade
Dark Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black
White: Natural Collection - White (no name)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black (no name)
Jade Is The New Black is a new purchase -_- I broke my ban again, I kind of knew that it wasn't going to go that well. It was not on my wishlist also. But my aunt offered to buy me nail polish and you do not pass up these opportunities!!! But now I am serious about my ban. Seriously serious, no more I say!!! Fighting!!! *Punches air* etc. Even though I haven't used it much I am looking forward to. I went a bit crazy with the seeds, it can really make the difference, too little or too many seeds and it just won't work. I went the "seedy" way, but it still looks ok. I still like it :)

Watermelon Nails 1.0
And these are my original watermelon nails, done in January. Though my cuticles aren't great they have been much, much worse. I didn't have a dark green then (and still didn't til recently) so I substituted with gold, which actually worked. I boosted the colours in this photos, but it's only slightly brighter.
Pink: Madame Milly (part of a french manicure set) - Pink (no name)
Green: Barry M - Mint Green
Gold: w7 - Golden Sands
White: Natural Collection - White (or some other white that was extremely gloopy)
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
I really liked that pink but it was very small and got thrown away. My watermelon nails went down well with people I knew and people I don't know. e.g. Cashier in the airport :) But looking back, I needed a dark green.
