Combo: Ugly Metallic Rainbow

Hey there guys, hope you're enjoying this wonderful Saturday. Everything can't go well, that's just life. Ugly isn't necessarily a bad thing, but this doesn't look good. I had good intentions, I wanted glitter, but it ended badly. At first I thought it looked alright, I was wrong. But I have to document nail fails too (unless they're really really bad ;).

Yeah... It ain't pretty. I've failed worse before but I'm not annoyed like I normally would be, I feel like I've learnt something from this. I started with Barry M - Pink Foil, which I really like, I used 1 coat which just explains the formula right there. Following was 1 coat of OPI - Rainbow Connection, I think it's ok. I liked it more before I discovered the vast world of nail polish. 1 coat of China Glaze - Luxe and Lush did not help, I do not like this polish. I used to, I'm glad I own it as it tells me that I don't like the way it looks (I figured this out a while ago). I'm kind of put off flakies because of it (NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!) and also the opalescent effect. I like order in glitter, this is how I realised I don't like shards either (why am I like this!!???). I don't like iridescent glitter either... (to be whispered) Ok I like some but in a lot of cases I don't like it. I don't understand how I've become such a fussy glitter person, the only good I can get from this is that there'll be less polish bought, but I'll probably buy more of something different so it's a lose-lose situation either way. Moral of the story, do not combine these 3 polishes. Hopefully in the future I'll return to like flakies, shards, opalescent and iridescent glitter but now the future is unclear (;)).

Combo: Galaxy Like

Hello there. I'm not really sure if this is a combination, but I thought I might as well put it under this category. This was originally meant to be the base of some Halloween nail art (since I still haven't done them :/) but it turned much different to what I was expecting. I still might use it as a base, but it definitely deserved some photos on it's own.

The word I would use to describe this is mental. I was trying to create murky waters or something like that, but I thought it turned out Galaxy-esque, and I love galaxy nails so it's good in my books. It's like a really easy way for galaxy nails.

I started with one coat (ONE COAT!!! :)) of Kiko - 265. The one my best friend got me, honestly I thought it was a bit too dark for my liking when I first used it. But obviously I was using it wrong or something because when I used it again it was nice. The blue shimmer in it is gorgeous, and one coat. I'm not one to be fussed about formula but one coaters are nice.

So craziness begins, I was planning on using a makeup sponge to sponge on the colours but I gave up on that and just used the brushes of the nail polish to do random shapes on different areas of my nails.
I used...
Purple: Rimmel - Purple Pulse
Pink: OPI - Japanese Rose Garden
Blue Glitter: Revlon - Radient
Purple/Blue Shimmer: Models Own - Indian Ocean
But I think the glitter that brought it all together was China Glaze - Luxe and Lush at first I used a little bit then got a little crazy with it. Piled it on, but I think it looks so cool. Definitely different from what I imagined but you have try new things to see if they work :)

Luxe and Lush/I Lily Love You Comparison

Probably the easiest thing about this comparison is that the 2 polishes, China Glaze - Luxe and Lush and OPI - I Lily Love You aren't too similar. But they are definitely in the same nail polish boat, both having flakies within.

China Glaze - Luxe and Lush has a clear base with blue/yellow toned (depending on the light) flakies. I personally think it looks best on a blue manicure. I don't know how to describe the flakies as in it's type (eg iridescent, holographic etc.), I'm positive someone else will have described it far better.

OPI - I Lily Love You has a sheer pink base with iridescent glitter of different shapes (squares, triangles) and flakies. I feel like this can also enhance different colour with the sheer pink base.

Wow look at that amazing editing (sarcasm by the way, just in case). I used different lighting for both pictures cause Luxe and Lush just wouldn't photograph in the same lighting as I Lily Love You. But hopefully you get the idea. I layered over what I think are their respective colours. The pale blue is The Face Shop - BK601 and the pink is Essie - Your Hut Or Mine?.

I much prefer I Lily Love You, it's the iridescent glitter and the pink base, it's so pretty. I like Luxe and Lush but I used to like it more. Both hands have 2 coats of the respective glitter.

Combo: Mustard Fire Sprinkles (+ Guest nails)

Kind of a crazy name ;P Basically a combination of a mustard yellow and some flakies. Also the guest nails, my sister's!!! The shape of my sister's nails are SO NICE. When I was younger I used to be jealous of her nails cause they were so long (I used to bite :/) and perfectly shaped.

The manicure was a couple of days old. Also awkward hand positions because my sister didn't know what to do and I didn't guide her very well :/ Oh well. But look how perfect the shape of her nails are :D So easy to paint. I was actually meant to do a post on another combination I did on her. But the thing with my sister, the moment I finish painting her nails. She gets them chipped -_- And she got some serious chips on both of her hands. It was beyond repair. Of course the exact same thing happened this time. She just doesn't care. But I managed to fix the damage and reminded her to be careful (she wasn't). But seriously some of those chips was ridiculous.

It's Topshop - Naked and China Glaze - Luxe and Lush. Her favourite colour is yellow and she agreed to a mustard yellow. Then I told her I had to add Luxe and Lush. Which I didn't really give her an option on. Luxe and Lush looks kind of blue-toned in these pictures but it's more orange close up. Therefore being the "fire". 2 coats of Naked and 2 coats of Luxe and Lush. I think Luxe and Lush is the kind of glitter that would look good over everything. So I had to put it over something else.

This is Luxe and Lush layered over The Face Shop - BL601 and Models Own - Indian Ocean. It still looks pretty :D. The first time I used Luxe and Lush it must not have been "mixed in" well enough, cause 2 coats was more than enough.
