Overlapping Hearts and Fishtails

Hey there guys, I have a design today that was inspired by Chalkboard Nails cause I was not inspired. I think she's back on her game cause I have to say for a long time I felt like the nail art wasn't happening or it just wasn't special. But she's definitely back for the challenge this month. So I think this is a more sophisticated design, well at least compared to what I normally do.

My favourite part is the overlapping hearts, I can't believe I've never done that before. The heart outline works so well with it and I like the colour scheme. It's all very uniform which I like.

I used toothpicks for all the hearts and used the brushes for the chevrons. I fixed them with toothpicks though, cause girl can't always do perfect freehand chevrons.

Chubby Owls with their Zig-Zag Chevron Eggs

Haha hello there!! My title is so hilarious but a friend gave me some insight on this design so we are rolling with it. As you can guess it's another nail art day and these are my favourite. Oh yeah forgot to tell you that I've now swatched everything. There's me making a big deal counting down and then when it happens I forgot to say. Very standard me. So all days will be nail art days til I get more polish (who knows when that'll happen, I mean really).
Just wanted to say I've been rocking to some Latin jazz while editing and it's been great, also since I haven't been playing the piano as much and I have more free time in school I have more nail time. Being real this'll probably end cause I have serious things to get back to but it's nice while it lasts.

Aw chubby owls are cute and I like the colour scheme. Gradient chevrons are v fun too. I was going to paint something on my thumb but then I liked it without cause that polish is really pretty. I think th design works well, like pink, blue and green are great. The egg idea is sweet too.

I used the brush of the nail polish quite a bit, like for the blue and the zig-zags then I went in with the toothpicks for all the other details. I wasn't really fussed about proportioning here cause it's meant to be cartoony.

Green dripping chevrons + poppy nail art

Hey there!! It's a nail art day, been a bit obsessed with dripping chevrons this year they are just so cool. I had these on for St. Patrick's Day, I mentioned in a March post I had green nails for St. Patrick's Day, now you have an idea about how far behind the backlog is. I'm very behind!! But girl legitimately doesn't have time haha, still don't really have time hahahaha oh dear.

Dripping chevrons are just the coolest. I love green too, it's just so unnatural and great!! I contrasted it with some pink and the little flowers, I like the look but I think I could've used a brighter yellow. but yellows are generally are so sheer and nobody got time for a white base!! Awk it was a cute look.

I just used my toothpicks, I did like circular shapes for the flowers and then for the dripping chevrons I tried to paint the chevrons as randomly as possible colour wise and then just added the drips at the points again randomly, like it's hard to not do it randomly.

Valentine dripping chevron nails

Hello there guys!! I hope you are doing well, unfortunately for me I'm back to school tomorrow which is a sad time not gonna lie. I would've been back earlier but I'll explain why in another post. School is always full steam ahead and I have so many things I have to do -_- As I always say, after a while you might not see me much haha. I know it's much too early for Valentine's things but this colour scheme evokes those thoughts.

I was so taken with dripping chevrons the last time I did them that I had to do them again but with a different colour scheme and chunkier chevrons. I'm not impressed, I really need to revise that colour scheme cause it doesn't work and the thinner chevrons look much slicker and better. Overall I'm still pretty happy with this design cause the concept is cool but nothing special.

I did the chevrons randomly with toothpicks in a zig-zag fashion. I added the drips after finishing all the chevrons. I made the mistakes of putting colours too close to each other beside each other so I had to add sparkles in some form. This is matte again, I've seriously matted everything now that I have a proper matte topcoat and everything looks so much sweeter when it's matte.

Pastel bunnies + zig zag chevron nail art

Hi fine folks!! It's another nail art day, and a pretty cute one if I do say so myself. Also animal nail art, I really like animal nail art. Whilst I've done bunny nail art before I think this design could be the best and generally the most fun.

I suppose I wanted bunnies and then I got some exciting colours to do some chevron zig zags and weirdly I think it works. The bunnies are real cute, with the little ears and the wide eyes :3 It's all very summery, but you know me, you know I'm always in summer. I think the whole look somehow ties itself together. Plus pastel bunnies look super sweet.

For the zig zags and the main head of the rabbits I just used the brush of the polish. However it was messy and I cleaned it up with some toothpicks. So all the details are done with toothpicks too. For the black I used my pen and was crazy about positioning, I think I got the purple bunny much better than the blue one, but I'm still content.

Base: Spa Ritual - Wilderness
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Barry M - Matt White
Purple: Barry M - Berry Ice Cream
Dark purple: OPI - My Current Crush
Blue: Barry M - Sugar Apple
Teal: Barry M - Guava
Green: Barry M - Greenberry
Pink: Models Own - Radiant Pink and Barry M - Superdrug 50th Birthday (the glitter really added a lot, but glitter tends to do that)
Orange: OPI - Where Did Suzi's Man-go? and Rimmel - It's a Scorcher! (I thought It's a Scorcher! had a better shade of orange to work with the design)

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Who's that Pokémon? Mupkip (with dripping chevrons)!!

Hey there guys!! I'm here with some Pokemon nail art, apparently now my favourite nail art. Not gonna lie especially this design, I adore Mupkip and I saw the dripping chevrons at Chalkboard Nails and it's pretty much my new favourite design. It's so easy to paint and it looks so cool!! I think everyone should give it a try cause it looks incredible :)

So yeah here we have some Mupkip, cause I herd u lyk them ;) And some really funky dripping chevrons that go with the colour scheme of Mudkip. I thought Mudkip would be quite appropriate since Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is coming out really soon. You know Mudkip is your water starter and who I intend to start with, if I get the game (hopefully I will cause it looks really great) Look how cute Mudkip is!! Awk bless.
I really love this design, I know the combination seems totally unrelated but I like the strange combinations ya'know. The matteness was also really nice, matte nails are great. I really want to do those chevrons in every colour combination, for seers they are amazing :3

Whilst I think the dripping chevrons are amazing, they are the most time-consuming thing. I wanted a random colour scheme which meant I did each row at a time without having a set pattern so that took even longer haha. As usual I used my toothpicks and as you can imagine I just painted each row trying to keep the zigzags as neat as possible. Some of the chevrons aren't completely aligned but I can look over that. I added the drips randomly at the end.
For Mudkip I started with a white base, and added the appropriate details. Sounds like bundles of fun, I know. But the outcome is worth it :)

Base: Color Club - Sky High

Light Turquoise: Barry M - Sugar Apple

Pink Summer Fishtails

Oh hey there guys!!! I hope you are all feeling fine, it's been a while. It's all revision for me right now, I hate the feeling that NOTHING IS GOING IN -_- But today's nails are nice and happy, unlike revision. I did fishtails (or chevrons) once before and liked it way more than I thought I would. My segments were a bit wonky last time, so I made it my aim this time to fix that. I was so excited to do these nails (since I have to spend less time on nail business) that I told a ton of people I was going to and no one knew what the fishtail manicure was (nail people issues). It got to the point that I drew a diagram (that's how cool I am).

I found a technique to do the tails, first I drew a "v" then went from the side into the middle. I think it worked, and it's quite cute and funky. I did a triple accent, I love accents they add interest to a manicure. I think the colours look nicer in real life, my camera has some issues with pink.
I love pink and I especially love the pinks I chose. For my thumb I used Barry M - Fuchsia (virtually 1 coat) as a base and continued with Illamasqua - Nomad then China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint.
Index and middle fingers the base is Color Club - Wing Fling, the blue is OPI - Sea You In Hollywood (in hindsight I should have used a brighter blue) and the pink at the tips is Barry M - Pink Foil (Xmas LE 2012 B).
And pinky and ring fingers have Orly - Basket Case, followed by the pretty purple Barry M - Berry Ice Cream and The Face Shop - GR501.

My lighting was too bright for the first time and wasn't helping me
I have rekindled my love for Basket Case, there's me saying I'd like a polish that shade of pink then I realise I have Basket Case (and 3 other pretty much identical pinks). A bright bubblegum pink? It's great, 2 coats and sorted. I had major issues with thick layers of polish not drying (:/) and therefore having to push it off and do it again -_- It all worked out in the end, and I sealed it off with a matte topcoat (because matte is the way forward).

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day (without revision)!!! :)

Flip-flop Fishtails

Hey there guys!! I hope you are doing fantastic, school has come and ruined everything :P Also I am fabulous at embarrassing myself in everything I do :/ Today I have some simple nail art I have never tried before simply because I thought I wouldn't like it. The chevron/fishtail manicure, and I think it's a really great design. I was wrong once again.

The thing is, it's so simple but it looks so striking (in my opinion anyway). I wanted a more cool colour palate, personally I think they look like flip-flops. I found it slightly challenging at the beginning (getting the point in the middle, keeping the lines straight) but once you get into it it gets easier and so much fun (it could be weird to find fishtails fun).
My ring finger was the result of a mistake, I wanted a glitter accent, but no glitter was going to build up by itself opaque. So I used a white base and that worked, but once I tried it again for another colour it was 6 coats and I knew it wouldn't last so I pushed it off. I proceeded with Metallic 4 Life again, the rejected glitter was Orly - Go Deeper.
Turquoise: Essie - Turquoise and Caicos
Hot Pink: OPI - Charged Up Cherry
Green: China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint
Pale Purple: Essie - Lilacism
Light Blue: Revlon - Blue Lagoon
Pink: OPI - Japanese Rose Garden
Dark Purple: OPI - Plum And Get It
Shimmery Blue: OPI - Sea You In Hollywood
Black Glitter: OPI - Metallic 4 Life
Pink Glitter: OPI - Excuse Moi! (OPI PARTY!!!)
White Base: Models Own - Snow White
I wanted to use more opaque polishes (makes thing SO much easier). I've been wary of Turquoise and Caicos for quite a while. I wanted to love it when I got it, but I didn't. It's such a me colour. I thought it took a million coats and bubbles badly. But I tried it again and 3 coats for opacity (2 coats was not going to suffice though) and the bubbles weren't too bad (I was more patient, but I am not a patient person). It's great for jelly sandwiches though.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!!! :)
