PowerPuff Girls Nail Art

Hello there!! Thank you for clicking here on PlumeriaPainted, I appreciate it. It's a nail art day!! PowerPuff girls, don't know about you but I was obsessed with the PowerPuff girls when I was really young. It was so fun, and they were saving the world and the villain was all crazy. It was a good show. Oo and it was so colourful!! So yeah did some nail art inspired by them.

I'm really really happy with how this turned out, I think the PowerPuff girls are so cute!! They're aren't perfect but I think it works and has "personal flair". So there's Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup. Bubbles was my favourite cause she's so happy and cute!! For the thumb and pinky I was trying to do the heart that they appear in, in the theme tune, it works better when I do a different hand position. On another note I loved the PowerPuff Girls theme tune, again so fun.

So I started with a white base for all of them and did my black outline. Then I got my toothpicks and filled in. Proportion is always my nail art enemy so I was battling that and I think I mostly won (except kind of for Buttercup). For the stripes (I'm trying to think of the word for that stripy heart but it's not coming to me) I just got the brushes of the polishes and went wild.

Base: Claire's - Hundreds & Thousands
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine
Peach: w7 - Linen
White: Barry M - Matt White and Lovely Me:Ex - White (as a base)
Blue: Revlon - Blue Lagoon
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Orangey Red: Barry M - Carousel
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
Green: Illamasqua - Nomad
Orangey Pink: OPI - Charged Up Cherry
Light Pink: Barry M - Dragon Fruit
Fuchsia: Barry M - Fuchsia
Pink: Orly - Basket Case

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!! :)

What A Tweety Pie!

Hello wonderful human beings!!! How are you? Fine? Terrible? Sweet? Have a covered all the boxes (probably not)? Speaking of being sweet (I'm working on my segues :P), I have some debatably sweet nail art of a sweet little character. As the title suggests, Tweety Bird!! I've had this on my todo list for the longest time, I was meant to paint him with Sylvester but I decided that would be too hard. I'm not one to back down from a challenge but I thought Tweety would be enough.

I have to say, I love painting cartoons. My flow is with the cartoons. I have to tell you when I originally finished Tweety I was not happy at all, I seriously thought I'd painted an unmitigated disaster due to proportions being incorrect (also due to random strings of polish not wanting to go away :/). I over-reacted as now I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. He's cute and that is the most important thing as cuteness is the best thing in the world.
I decided to do 2 accents to compliment Tweety, no particular reason. It just happened. Some floral and black and white glitter gradient. Before I added the glitter I had done a really pretty gradient, basically the blending actually worked. It was a proud moment. But we all know black and white glitter enhances a gradient and if you didn't know that you were graced with a useful piece of information (I found this out through other bloggers, I could never work something like that out myself lol).

I started the gradient with Max Factor - Cool Jade, *new polish alert!* I didn't buy this one myself, my friend was talking about going away on a trip and I joked "Lol get me nail polish while you're there" (yes I say lol as a word). But I didn't expect her actually get me nail polish!! I was so touched that I was near tears, that's why she's my babe. It also made me realise I have quite a lot of colours that shade (not sure how that happened, might do a comparison one of these days), but this one is by far my favourite. It's darker than the rest and requires 2 easy coats. The brush handle is super small but that doesn't bother me, I think it's cute.
Then I sponged on Essie - Lilacism and Revlon - Dreamer, it took me a while to get everything right but once I did I was so pleased. One coat of L'Oreal Color Riche - Confetti proceeded.
The pink base is Barry M - Fuchsia, and I did little flowers with the same colours for the gradient with some bobby pins.

For Tweety I began with an outline (done with Lovely Me:Ex - White) and I continued with Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream (yellow) and added different details with Lovely Me:Ex - Black, Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream (blue), Essie - Fear Or Desire (orange) and OPI - Dutch Tulips (red) over the top.
I have previously mentioned my topcoat trials and tribulations (want to know more? My pop art nail art has a pretty good explanation). Recently I began to use the Color Club topcoat on top on my designs at snail pace. I also figured out the key to no smudging, don't touch the design with the brush -_- Doh! I really should've figured that out sooner. But with this technique, I get no smudging (well a tiny bit) and super smooth nail art. It's the bomb (in a good way, I know no one says "the bomb" anymore). The coat has to be thick but as it dries it's like the thick coat dethickens (I can't think of another way to put it). But I am really liking the Color Club topcoat!! Oh yeah, and no shrinking!!

Thank you SO much for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!! :D

Rilakkuma (Relax Bear) Nail Art

Oh hey there!!! How are you? I'm feeling ok-ish, I was meant to post yesterday but I got out of hand revising (I am one party). But really I started writing notes at 5pm and by 11pm I still hadn't finished. My maximum break could've been 2 hours so that was some intense writing. Unfortunately the test was today and I'm not so sure if I did great.
Whatever moving forward, I wanted bear nails and automatically an image of a bear appeared in my head. I could not for the life of me figure what bear it was, and that annoyed me. Of course I proceeded to ask the internet (the internet knows everything), where I typed in "cartoon bear" which did not work. Then I typed in "korean bear" which also was not so helpful but there was an image with the bear I was looking for. Turns out the bear is Japanese and called Rilakkuma (translated to relax bear). I am positive I've seen this bear before but I can't remember where (it's going to annoy me), but he is ADORABLE.

Ok forever I love him and I need him more in my life. I didn't copy the cartoon exactly I added some elements that I tend to do with everything I paint. I was put off animal nail art for a bit (I. Do. Not. Know. Why), but I am definitely back on cause ANIMALS ARE ADORABLE.
Yes I am a fan of this design cause bears are adorable, I think I love bears now. Obviously not the grizzly scary kind but the cute bear cubs etc. I melt (in a good way). The chick on my pinky is another character in the show. Oh man, SO CUTE.
Base: Revlon - Blue Lagoon, Models Own - Indian Ocean and OPI - Last Friday Night
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White (for details) and Models Own - Snow White (for base)
Brown: Nails Inc - Porchester Square
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine
Orange: Essie - Fear Or Desire
Porchester Square is beast for nail art cause it's so opaque, and in general it's a nice colour (just not my thing). I want to like Sunshine more, but once I had it on my nail (singular I don't know what I was doing, probably some kind of nail art thing) and it stained. I was not happy about this. Otherwise it's still a decent yellow, but you know yellows, they have many coat formulas.
Picture spam!!! Cause it's cute ^_^

I now want a ton of Rilakkuma paraphernalia, just because that bear is so stinking cute and he can just chill with me :P
Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!!! :D
