Wario Nails (for Movember)

Hi there guys, I hope you're having a great weekend. Exam freedom is one of the most beautiful things of life, so I'll be living my next week in peace (well hopefully) and I have something very exciting for the blog coming up in the next week so yay!! :D I left my Movember (moustache growing worldwide for prostate cancer) nails quite late this year, but I finally had time to go to them and they're pretty funky.

Sorry about the cut that I edited out, winter (well autumn, almost winter) is unkind to my cuticles, very very unkind
So I present Wario, one of the more distasteful Nintendo characters, so basically he's not cute but he's got quite the moustache. Last year I did Mario nails for Movember and loved them, the concept of this manicure is very similar. Also I really like this mani, when painting I was not sure if he was going to turn out right but I think we can all agree he looks very maniacal (sorry for the nightmares) but I like how terrifying he is, I do not know why but I like the way he looks here!! I was going to add garlic and money to the other nails but new polish changed my mind.

Eeeeeeeeeeee the purple is a new!! And a Liquid Sand!! Well I visited my love TK Maxx yesterday and there were OPI sets (the selection of nail polish brands was great) and this called my name. Ok OPI DS Lapis was there but the price point made my decision also the fact that the set I got was limited edition and came with a base coat.
I legit haven't owned a base coat for over a year, and yes I have used a "base coat" but it's a french manicure pink (which was actually a great base coat) but it's nice to have a real base coat for once. But when I applied it I wasn't used to having my nails clear and not a shimmery blue in pink. I've been using the french manicure pink since I started this blog (fun fact: majority of manicures on this blog use that Sally Hansen french manicure pink as the base coat).
Also totally coincidental that it works with this look, I was going to be doing my Movember nails no matter what but I was going to use a different purple as yellow and purple are Wario's colours. Also I haven't seen many (or any) swatches of this so I was curious. I love the Liquid Sands cause they're SO sparkly O.o

Purple: OPI - My Current Crush
Now this isn't mega sparkly like I love it (can't wait to topcoat it when I "swatch" it). I've mentioned I HATE the colour plum but this is just about not plum for me and I really like it. I do love a purple polish and it does have a nice sparkle. The name is also adorable.
Peach: w7 - Linen
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Barry M - Matt White and Lovely Me:Ex - White
Pink: Per Una - Pink (no name)
Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine
Dark Blue: Barry M - Indigo
Light Blue: The Face Shop - GR501
I really wanted to add the light blue to the sides of this eyes so it was the most accurate it could possibly be.
Brown: w7 - Brownie

Thank you for reading, I hope you had a great Movember and only have a better December (or Decembeard)!!! :)

31DC2013: Day 29 - Inspired by the supernatural

Hi there guys!! Hope you're having a great weekend (I'm hoping to squeeze in a movie amongst the crazy amount of work I have). Supernatural should be a tough prompt for me as I don't like "supernatural" things like ghosts, spirits and all that whatever. But every year I am provided with the perfect inspiration. Last year was Boo, this year is Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. The long awaited sequel to Luigi's Mansion. Also it's the Year of Luigi; therefore Luigi must be painted!!

I love Luigi being all terrified there, of all the characters to explore haunted mansions. They picked cowardly Luigi, that's perf. I'm really happy with how Luigi turned out, it does look like him being a cool dude. I painted various other ghosts in the game (thumb to pinky), Slammer, Poltergeist, Greenie, Hider and a Polterpup. I just love the overall look of this, I think I did Luigi's Mansion 2 justice :)

In the game you are Luigi and you de-ghosify various mansions and retrieve parts of the broken dark moon. Unfortunately I have not played this game but I think it looks great, I'm hoping a friend gets it so I can play ;) Neither did I play the first one which I know many complained of it being too short, yet awesome at the same time (though they didn't complain about that).

Black base con glitter: Rimmel - Black Pearl (one coater!) and OPI - Last Friday Night
I love this combo, I tested a couple of combos over black on a piece of paper and this was my favourite of the ones I tried.
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Lovely Me:Ex - White
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Orange: Models Own - Beach Party
Pink: Essie - Your Hut Or Mine?
Neon Green: China Glaze - I'm With The Lifeguard
Blue: Revlon - Dreamer
Silver: w7 - Silver Mirror
Purple-y Pink: Barry M - Fuchsia
Peach: w7 - Linen
Green: Illamasqua - Nomad
Brown: w7 - Brownie
Blue (for eyes): Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Dark Blue (for eyes): Kiko - 265

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

It's-a-me Mario!!!

Hello there!!! It's the weekend, thank goodness ;) This is the manicure I had on my birthday, for my birthday I wanted to do my perfect manicure. Which obviously involves the main moustachioed man himself, Mario!!!

Needless to say, I love it (just having Mario on my nails ;)). And I'm very happy with how the faces turned out :D It's also perfect for Movember (Guys are growing out their moustaches to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer) this month!!! I think it's a great cause :)
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Blue: Nails Inc: Baker Street
Peach: w7 - Linen
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black (no name)
White: Models Own - Snow White
Light Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Brown (just a little bit): w7 - Brownie
I also had to use one of my favourite polishes, Baker Street. I love Mario, if that sounds crazy I don't mind. Mario games are by far my favourite. I could have done 5 Mario faces but I decided that I wanted to do 2 perfect ones instead of 5 substandard ones (my OCD wouldn't be able to handle that :P). Also the Baker Street had to appear as well :)

Just a little close up of Mario, isn't he cute? :P

It makes me want to do nail art of all the members of the Mushroom Kingdom. Ok it's set I'm going to do that. I'm looking forward to seeing the other Movember designs this month too :)

Geek Nail Challenge: Animal Crossing

It's the final week of the challenge :( Ultimate geek. I don't think I'm an "Ultimate geek" in any aspects. But I did nail art inspired by the game that got me into Nintendo, something that I'm a pretty big geek about.

As suspected by the title, that game was Animal Crossing: Wild World. I had played some Nintendo games before that, but I wasn't really exposed to gaming and I knew nothing about different platforms or anything. I was maybe around 8 when I played Animal Crossing. That game... Who knew mundane tasks could be so fun? That game can absorb your life if you let it. Yes it's that addictive.

I could not get this to photograph properly, my natural lighting place couldn't be used today cause it got dark SO early (mild exaggeration)!!! My camera wouldn't focus, lighting problems and all that business.

I painted a few characters from the Animal Crossing series, I chose random characters as I don't really have favourite characters from Animal Crossing. I probably painted them too small and it would've been easier if I painted them bigger (but I never make things easy for myself -_-). But they're cuter when they're smaller ^_^ On my thumb is the generic girl character (can also have brown hair etc. depending on how you answer the questions at the beginning), then from left to right it's Sable, Tom Nook, KK Slider and Brewster.

My detailed orientated self is obviously not completely pleased with the neatness, but it's still cute (it looks better in real life though, I promise). I really like Sable's pink freckles :3
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Light pink: Barry M - Strawberry Ice Cream
Pink: Per Una - Pink (no name)
Peach: w7 - Linen
Red: Essie - E-Nuff Is E-Nuff
Pale yellow: w7 - Sheer Lemon
Yellow: Rimmel - Sunshine
Light brown: Paris Collection - Cocoa Drop
Brown: Paris Collection - Mauve Melody
Dark brown: w7 - Brownie
Green: OPI - Jade Is The New Black
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Models Own - Snow White
(It's probably sad that I really like listing the polishes I used :/)
Took me a long time, but I am happy with the outcome. It was also refreshing working with a white nail polish that wasn't gloop city.

I've had so much fun with this challenge, and check out everyone else doing the challenge :D

Geek Nail Challenge: Kirby

Week 3 of the challenge. It's been so much fun. This week is Games and Gaming, um my expertise. I have mentioned before I am a massive Nintendo fangirl. Honestly I haven't been so obsessed for a while, but slowly I am going back to me obsessed self (but a more toned down version).

Kirby is not my favourite Nintendo character by a long shot. But he's so cute!!! Also I checked, Kirby is a he, pink being such a manly colour. I haven't played many Kirby games, only a couple. Kirby's Epic Yarn is amazingly cute, ok it's also ridiculously easy (you can't die in that game) but everything is made out of yarn ^_^ I played for a few seconds on the Gameboy Advance (something to do with Dreamland) until my cousin decided I sucked and didn't let me play. Kirby is also the easier character to play with in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this is why I try to branch out to other characters e.g. Mr. Game and Watch. He is hilariously bad. Anyway after that ramble, to the nails!!!!

I liked the way I did both hands for this design (which normally isn't the case). This is my right hand, it's inspired by a cutepolish design. She did it with Pikachu which I have previously done, so I thought about doing the same design but with Kirby. The other Kirby characters (i.e. Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, King DeDeDe) are also really cute but I really wanted to do this design. It's very simple, I made it harder for myself by being crazy about the positioning of the eyes etc. -_- Typical me. Cause it wasn't looking right, but slowly I realised it was the mouth that was the problem. But after that was fixed, yay cute!!! It looks more like a Pokemon than Kirby, but I couldn't get the eyes closer together without putting them both on the middle nail. AHHHH I'm going to stop pointing out my flaws -_-

Then my left hand, where the eyes were slightly wider apart. I also prefer the mouth of this one (again details only I care about -_-)
Light Pink: Barry M - Strawberry Ice Cream
Dark Pink: No7 - Me! Me! Me!
Blue: Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black
White: Natural Collection - White (salvaging what's left of it)
Probably the hardest part of the design was using Strawberry Ice Cream. So gloopy, it dragged so much. 2 coats was already a struggle, 3 coats a battle. I don't how I've used so much, for one pale pink does not suit me at all. But it is a nice colour. And it wouldn't be a manicure without me whacking my nail against something, but again I managed to fix it.

Thank you for battling through this really rambly post, and check out everyone else doing the challenge!!! :)

31 Day Challenge - Day 29 - Inspired by the supernatural

Aw the challenge is almost over :(

Well being the Nintendo fan-girl (and geek :P) that I am, Boo nails were obviously a must ;) Like all Mario enemies Boos are super cute (maybe not the cutest though).

(Sorry my pictures are so blurry, I didn't realize until I was editing :L)

I started with a base of Barry M Indigo (which I love for layering!!!), and for both hands I used something different on top. I was excited to used Indian Ocean on Indigo, but when I first put it on I thought it looked really really strange, but slowly it went from "It looks weird" to "This is pretty to cool" to "This actually looks really nice!!!". It grew on me, but it does look pretty awesome. It's like a cool shade of purple, and I really like it. In general I don't like purple nail polish, so this must be something special!!! :P I'm not sure about the Boo on my 4th finger, it looks a bit messed up. But it was better than my first attempt on that finger was it was just super out of proportion.

This is my favourite nail, thumb on my right hand. I learnt my mistakes from my left hand, it's all about proportioning it correction so the eyebrows aren't to high and are in a "w" shape and making sure the arms are aligned (sounds simple in theory but not so simple in practice). It's just this Boo looks the best.

I layered the silver glitter on top for my left hand, I like both combinations. Some of my favourite layering combinations are with Indigo, it just goes with pretty much everything!! :) Though in the bottle it looks like a bright dark blue. It's not, it's more a navy going into dark purple, but it's still pretty :)

(Awk they look like they're going to hug!!! ^_^)

All the pictures of my right hand I've had to edit out a cut, which was just swell. My cuticles have not been in the best shape, but I'm working on it!!

Colours used:
Dark Blue: Barry M - Indigo
Glitter: Barry M - Silver Glitter
Purple Shimmer: Models Own - Indian Ocean
White: Natural Collection - White (no name) and Sally Hansen - French White Tip
Red: OPI - Dutch Tulips
Black: Lovely Me:Ex - Black (no name)

Equipment used:
Toothpicks

31 Day Challenge - Day 23 - Inspired by a movie

I just wanted an excuse for Pokémon nails. Pokémon movies definitely do exist; I watched one with my cousin (in Japanese probably not the wisest move). I watched the TV series when I was younger and it was seriously amazing. But now the series is full of different characters and craziness. Bring Misty back!!!!! But anyway here are my Pokémon nails.

(Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Togepi and Squirtle, not the toughest pokemon to guess ;))

I looked up some images on Google for inspiration. I really wanted to do a Togepi nail, I watched the Togepi episode a lot, and Togepi is SO cute!!! ^_^ I got a new white nail polish. Unfortunately it’s a jelly :’( It’s really hard to tell with a full bottle, oh well it will be great for jelly sandwiches. I really wanted Jigglypuff to be a paler pink but I don’t have one, so I just had to make do. I probably could do endless amounts of Pokémon nails and never be bored of it, Pokémon are SO cute (even though I know I think many things are cute, Pokémon are above those, well some of them :L).

Colours used:
White: No7 – Snowflake (such a cute name), Natural Collection – White (no name) and Sally Hansen – French White Tip
Red: OPI – Dutch Tulips
Black: Lovely Me:Ex – Black
Yellow: Barry M – Lemon Ice Cream
Pink: Barry M – Strawberry Ice Cream
Blue: Barry M – Blueberry Ice Cream
Pale Yellow: w7 – Sheer Lemon
Pale Blue: Barry M – Blue Moon
Brown: w7 – Brownie
Hot Pink – H&M – Check Me Out
