Top 15 Nail Polishes Of 2013: Part 1

Hello there guys!! Here we are, favourite polishes of last year!! I feel like doing it in January gives the cycle completion and I guess the year wasn't finished cause you never know you might find your favourite polish on the 31st of December (though it's highly unlikely). Not everyone does these but I LOVE IT. I'm obviously not the most qualified considering I don't get masses and masses of polishes a year (and I'm glad, I like using my polishes well) but I love giving polishes the love they deserve. As you can tell last year's top 10 polishes (see: January 2013 in the archive ;)) have now turned into the top 15. There was me halfway through the year thinking I wouldn't even get a top 10, yeah... Oops?
And the end of the year always brings the most polish compared to the rest of the year and then there's the mass "swatching" and debating what to include. This list was not easy to compile, I kept rearranging the order and reconsidering everything but I think I have got my final list.
One thing about my list is that not all of these polishes came out in 2013, last year I wasn't too bad about having the same year polishes but this year, nope. My favourite polishes cannot be determined by year, but the colours that I love and feel happy having on my nails. That can't be wrong, so here are my top 15 polishes of 2013 starting at 15 (and split into 2 parts :P).

15. Barry M - Berry Ice Cream. There's no better way to start the list than with a Barry M. Oh Berry Ice Cream, the polish that began my journey as a purple fiend, now there's are tons of purple polishes that I'm loving and craving (which can be seen as a good or bad thing). The subtle pink tone is so pretty and it's a great base that I feel looks really nice with nail art. And is lovely as a stand alone polish!!

14. Color Club - Sky High. It's weird that I don't have that much blue polish in my favourites but this one is gorgeous. The purple duochrome really is something, it's mesmerising o.O

13. Nails Inc - Notting Hill Gate. I got this for Christmas last (last?) year, I can't say no to a neon. Especially if it's neon pink. This is a pretty fantastic neon pink, it's not got a perfect formula but I don't care, it's neon pink.

12. Etude House - WH901. I love matte glitter, I love pastel and all the little shaped glitter is SO cute. The holographic and white glitter are very nice touches to this polish, though the formula has little to desire it's so cute I can definitely forgive it.

11. Barry M - Greenberry. As I've mentioned this colour used to be my perfect colour, it's a stunner still though. I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to formula but this is really is perfect. It's lovely, it's bright, it's amazing.

10. Barry M - Dragon Fruit. The Barry M Gellies were stellar this year and expect to see more in this list. I love pink polish, it's probably irrational but I'm okay with that. The shade of Dragon Fruit is gorgeous. The silver shimmer in this is also gives this pink polish something special.

9. The Face Shop - Vanilla Sugar Yogurt. Rainbow glitter, and I was down. I don't know why I love the orange glitter in this but I do, but just look how much fun this polish is!! Like a fun, colourful cake.

Well this is the first half, second half coming tomorrow. I hope you currently like my picks, thank you for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day!! :)

Purple Nails: Barry M - Berry Ice Cream

Hi there guys!! Happy October!! :) I think most people are finishing the challenge today and blah-di-blah I'm really busy blah blah blah, so I'm taking my time to get there but I have to say I'm really enjoying it and I really like what I've done for the challenge.
So some nice plain purple nails today, this was also my first ever pale purple polish (the pale purples have grown since then). I think I had a bad first experience with this polish so I thought it sucked -_- I'm wrong all the time, this was another instance where I was wrong but this was at the beginning of the nail obsession so I didn't know much. But beginning of this year I realised how amazing this polish is and now it's one of my favourites.

I deplenished half the bottle and I only really started using it this year. The thing that makes this lovely for me is the pink tone that Berry Ice Cream has. Oh yeah pale purple really doesn't suit me, washes me out like nobody's business but this is so wearable, and though it doesn't suit me completely it's such a pretty colour that I don't care.

I mentioned I got this polish a while ago, but really I mean it was quite the while and it's not gloopy. I love that cause I can't deal with gloopy polishes. I guess this was part of Barry M's Ice Cream collection consisting of pastels, I own a few as you may have seen on this blog. I now love pale purple polish due to this polish and Barry M - Prickly Pear.

2 easy coats and you're set, I used 3 for the odd nail when it was slightly streaky but 2 coats is really all that is required. I used to not like this polish cause 1. It was pale purple and 2. I thought it took forever to dry. It doesn't take forever to dry we've already established that the colour is gorgeous and I'm wrong.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!! :)

Combo: Sweet Berry Ice Cream

Hi there!!! I've mentioned in a previous post that the weather here has been really good. But seriously it puts me in such a good mood that you wouldn't believe. It puts me in a summery mood :D And it's the last day of winter, it all fits together. I'm excited for spring (and for my english test to be over :P). I've already shown Sweets Way by itself but I want to show it again cause it's lovely (and looks really pretty over purple).

I've been loving that Barry M -Berry Ice Cream (pink-toned pale purple), it's a super pretty colour. I used 2 coats, I think I used to avoid it because 1. I thought it didn't suit me (ok it doesn't really) and 2. I thought it took a million coats and took ages to dry. I was wrong and I'm ok with that. I think I used 1 coat of Nails Inc - Sweets Way (milky white base with small peach, blue and silver glitter) on top, I really liked the combination of it all. All the colours somewhat worked together. The name has a sweet feeling to it, I do like some sweets and ice cream ;) I enjoyed having this on it was just pretty. Sweets Way wasn't too bad to remove this time, I think it's cause there was only 1 coat the glitter still gets everywhere.

Thank you for reading and have a great day!!! :)

Purple Nails: Barry M - Berry Ice Cream + Models Own - Indian Ocean

I was thinking about putting this in a combo post, but I thought a "_______ Nails" post would suit it better. I still don't really like purple nails though I'm warming up to it. But I was stuck and last week I felt like purple, I'm not sure if I felt like purple. But I saw my chemistry teacher's nails and I was pretty certain it was a Barry M pale purple (cause they're so easy to access here), but thinking about it I just wanted to paint my nails purple. My chemistry teacher isn't even my favourite teacher or anything, I just like her nails. It suited her much better but her's were chipped pretty badly (tut tut tut :P).

But of course as the purple story goes I think "Maybe it'll suit me this time". It never suit me this time. It seriously just looked wrong on my skin tone. I thought cause the Barry M one was more pink-toned than Essie - Lilacism so it would suit me, but no.

I have experimented before (on my sister) and I knew the combo of the Barry M one and Models Own - Indian Ocean worked really well. So I had to add that on.

I'll tell you the truth. I think it's SO pretty. Indian Ocean makes it more blue toned and basically it's really pretty, that's all I can say. The shimmer is very purple but it wouldn't show up for me, my natural lighting spot is pretty much gone cause it gets dark pretty early. I had to improvise but that didn't go too great. I did manage to get it to show in the different lighting but some aren't too colour accurate. It's quite pink-toned. A time where I genuinely like purple nails, it's pretty special :)
